veneering walnut sheets to birch ply... advice needed

Unless you have a fork lift truck I think by the time you have enough bricks in place the veneer will have sucked the water from the glue and expanded causing it to wrinkle once this happens you have lost the fight really. and yes you would have to do both sides at the same time so if one fails...

    1/16 (1.6mm) wood - HOBBYS

1.5mm birch ply usually has a very good finish, yes there may be a few small knots in the non certified sheets but not many and I can't see how 5 foot square isn't big enough for a business card? I wouldn't want any bigger in my pocket!

Earlex HV5500 how much do you clean when you need a break

Depends on the paint really, you will need to give it a stir up and paint will start to gum up the passages in the gun after a while.

    Veneered Suppliers

I think you will be a long time looking! I've never seen anything like that listed in any stock sheets. The thinnest I have seen will be door skins at 3.5 or 4mm but only one sided. 3mm finished would need a core material of 2mm!

    Riving knife pain

You say the RK is 5mm to the right of the blade, are you sure the blade is in the right place? take it out and check make sure there isn't a washer or bush in there that shouldn't be and make sure the blade is seated properly.

    Cheapskate Salvaging

Well my real life is Woodworking and I recycle the other way round, the waste wood and sawdust I burn for heat and put the ash on the garden to help things grow, the trees and large shrubs get cut down and taken back to the workshop, the tomatoese I eat! Oh and I'm currently learning how to grow...

    Wood splitting

Kev if you can change the design slightly by having the grain in the boarding running around the box instead of up and down, but make sure there is not any vertical corner blocks, then you will be OK glueing it together as you are, you will need to use ply or loose t&g in the bottom. Chris

    Calculating window U value

I've been asked to make some windows for a customer, now although I have made many windows before I've never needed to provide a U certificate, this time I think I might have to, so far I have found a website that says they will do this for £35 a window, is this really the only way to go or does...
