    I am intrigued though. I assume you Have bought the dowels in? No griggs I have machined them all (and there's more to do yet) all odd sizes 15mm 25mm 32mm 44mm and 100mm all in Tulip wood except the 15mm which is Beech. And for once this may not be a total waste of our money!

    Make it out of solid wood, give every other board a tenon to locate them and infill with flush panels rather than TGV it will look the same in the end, the bit that would concern me is keeping rain water out of the groove at the bottom.

    Just filled out an order for router bits and thought lets have a look at the clearance section and there is a set of four bits in a box that contains one of the cutters I have on my order and the whole lot was £3 cheaper than the one cutter alone, How does that work then? same quality same...

    Although I have never used one and have little knowledge of one it sounds like a job for a chain morticer, have you investigated that option?

    Not sure about the details but do seem to remember a project our school did for a TV programme, the theory was that some mice wouldn't cross a white line on the ground, I think it needed to be about 2" wide, could you try painting one around your car?

    The Grass standard 95d hinges with 40mm cup will overlay 28mm if required part no 322.13.630 in my book.

    I'm sure hafele have one in their catalogue but it needs a 40mm hole not the usual 35mm.

    Timber wise you could use your local builder's merchant standard par pine, here it tends to be 5ths or 6ths redwood it would give you that grain and those knots anyway.
