    Use by dates.

I found some 250ml cartons of apple juice the other day, best before date was 2014! With tinned or sealed stuff, they're usually OK to eat well past the date.

    Record Imp Vice

That's the same basic design as the Record v75 which is still available under the Irwin Record brand name. The Imp is more like a mini version of the bigger Record mechanics vices.

Tabel Saw Blade thickness and riving knife

If you mean this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xFkHmgRIkOI then he is either deliberately being misleading or is just stupid. because kickback is caused by the rising blade and he only makes short cuts so that the rising blade is not touching the wood.

    Record 9 1/2 - angles and edge retention ?

You can sort of test for blade hardness by trying to scratch it with a another blade you know that's hard enough.

    Repairing F-clamps, loose head?

I've got one that's loose and falls off. I put some folded paper into the gap and it works OK. A bit of metal might work better.

    Frost Dove st Norwich, anyone?

"Frost" branded tools seem to be fairly common on Ebay. They must have been the biggest tool dealer in the area.

Your cheapest honing setup? **buying new only**

Unless it's a mistake, UK P&P is £10!!? So actual price is £17 unless you go there in person to buy it.

Your cheapest honing setup? **buying new only**

I think abrasive/sand paper shouldn't be included because they don't last long, being worn out after a few uses whereas stones will last from years to life times. Or you could include sandpaper but work out the cost compare with using stones over a long time, sand paper will be hugely more...

    How do you say "fagus"?

OK I guess it's not a word that's often spoken aloud but how do you say "fagus" as in fagus sylvatica, the European beech? Is it fa as in "far" or "father", then gus like the name "Gus"? Or is gus like "goose"? Or maybe the first a is short as in "mag"?

Looking for an adjustable velcro strap

100mm is quite wide for a strap, maybe make your own? 100mm wide webbing: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/x2-x5-x10-x25 ... 2038599356 On Ebay I can only find rectangular D ring rings up to 50mm wide, maybe wider ones are available elsewhere.

    Low angle rebating block plane

All else being equal, I think the Rutlands (Qiangsheng Luban) version is more simple and presumably cheaper to manufacture, and works just as well as the Workshop Heaven version. The former also has more surface area for the iron to rest on. All the Record shoulder and bullnose planes have this...

    cheap chisels

I don't own these chisels but I have used them from new, I thought they are soft and go blunt quickly. And the factory machining/grinding marks left on them are coarse. And plastic handles are nasty imo. At £11 for a set of 4, they might be worth it for rough work and you don't care if they're...

    PVA glue gone clear

I've got a 500g bottle of UHU pva glue, bought from Lidl a few years ago, that has gone clear or transparent or colourless. It's always been kept indoors and I squeeze the bottle before closing the cap to keep as little air in as possible. Before going clear, it did get quite thick and I added...

    Making A Wooden Straight Edge

I think the 3-straight-edges method should not be dismissed. If you've already got a straight edge, then making a straight edge is trivial and it'll never be more accurate than the reference straight edge. The curved edge to me seems unnecessary. I think it would more useful to make it...

You need to be sitting down ...

I suspect the market for this is not woodworkers or even woodworking tool collectors, but sword and knife collectors. How much are Japanese swords, hundreds of thousands of £? Don't people buy them and put them in bank vaults. Maybe the maker only makes marking knives as a side line, perhaps...

    Have you seen this?

Obviously small planes have their uses, for planing small pieces of wood!
