    Me Jacob? Not at all.

DIY Overhead crown guard with dust extraction.

Apologies @Tugalis we apear to have done the usual and gone off piste a little. Apologies Pete maybe I wasn't clear. When I said mine was drawing 1500w unrestricted that was the the inlet shroud completely removed (so now a 305mm inlet) and nothing at all connected to the end of the snail. As...

Very interesting Pete, I couldn't and honestly can't imagine making the filtration airflow too good would cause a problem. I was aware that restricting input airflow would cause less power to be used as its essentially spinning in a vacuum though. IIRC my 3hp/2200w motor was only drawing about...

Workshop DYI build plan - feedback needed

Lovely set of plans you have there Tibi. Apart from the usual back and fourth about what base to build it on, my only real thought is that your walls need a fair amount more studs. You appear to have them on very wide centres. Typically (at least in the UK and US, I guess its the same everywhere...

    Electric vehicles

It's all across the major european nations. Even our lot have said it and they have got to do something to meet the emissions targets. Canada might not be far behind us lot with regard internal combustion engines. I believe Quebec is banning all new ICE by 2035 and Canada as a whole wants to do...

    Electric vehicles

Oh just those 2. I started at 19 with a Focus 1.6, then an Octavia 1.8. My brothers first car was a Scooby STI 😂 @Lons has a nicer collection and history I think! Hopefully this year we can actually put some miles on the S2000. Anyway, hopefully this Supoerb wil see us through till we can buy...

    Electric vehicles

It's a heffer of a car but I think its supposed to be like 5.8 to 62? Mine was sold by the Skoda dealer with a "Steinbauer" box fitted which they claim adds extra power. Its deffo on the car as I had it in my hand at one point, but I've never tried turning it off to see if I can even see a...

    Electric vehicles

Ah you have then disabled the beeps then and don't use the heated seats when its 2C outside? I like most others can park my car fine with no aids because as you so scathingly politely put it, we all learned to drive, but having them just makes life easier, hell they turn on automatically so are...

    Washing machine cabinet vibration

Ahh, so the advice is to tell them that they in fact don't want the machine hidden. Gold. I'd not put mine IN a cabinet because it weighs 90 kgs and you need to get to machines sometimes. I completely understand wanting one hidden though. The machine could be wobbling for so many reasons.

    Washing machine cabinet vibration

I'd leave the machine on the floor and build around it I think. The machine is likely vibrating becase it wasn't set up correctly and just pushed into a hole and left to dance around. Even saying that sometimes the floor its on isn't helping and you might not be able to fix it.

    Electric vehicles

Lons, I do love pulling up beside the VRS Octavias knowing that my 280 superb has them beat for both comfort and speed 🤪 Cars without the new toys stopped selling. For you it's showing off. For others it's getting a huge car into a space that they'd not even attempt without the beeps or the...

DIY Overhead crown guard with dust extraction.

Normally the part that precludes that is the "fence" at the far end which is there to hold the sled together at that end. You could make one without that but I don't know how well it would maintain the kerf width on the whole sled. At a guess it might just be something that was dreamed up on the...

Design advice on knockdown joint hardware needed

Looks like you've put plenty of thought into what you have drawn up, though it will take better minds than mine to tell you if its going to work how you want it to (if that's even the insight you're after) My thoughts are, would using a taller front apron with housings for the legs to fit into...

DIY Overhead crown guard with dust extraction.

While I can't say for sure, I'd have thought that if using 1x 100mm got you say 10 units of suck in that one hose, using both at once might get you only 7.5 units on each as the extractor may well have a 125 or 150 inlet, so more overall suck but less in one area. Most of these type extractors...

Design advice on knockdown joint hardware needed

My boring redwood pine workbench is knockdown and doesn't need anything at all to hold it together. Its got a couple of screws and a few carriage bolts just a belt and braces but its fine without it. I had to dismantle the entire thing to move it from inside the house to the workshop last year...

DIY Overhead crown guard with dust extraction.

With the amount of material material they are putting through the tools even with a "proper" setup, that much adds up. I've had a tablesaw covered in MDF even with a 3hp extractor hooked directly to the back of it directly to the blade shroud and a zero clearance insert and I do in a year what...

    ROS to polish car?

Haha I understand the sentiment a tad but to many it's a hobby as much as anything else so the discussion can appear as bizarre to an "outsider" as a 17 page thread on here about sharpening a chisel or any number of other things. I don't clean mine nearly as often as I should but I have a long...

    Dust rant

Honestly not seen any of these shows, though I'd be more upset if they weren't wearing a mask while working. The blowing of the dust toward the lens is just arty faff by some overly enthusiastic director. Or you're all a bunch of dustflakes 🤪
