POE cables - I'm going insane!

Every cable (long runs to sockets or patch panel and patch cables) in my house is using solid core and the only time I've ever had an issue with an rj45 is when I cocked it up. Didn't even know stranded cable existed and I've been making cables up for 25 years now 😂. Learn something new every...

    Sedgwick or axminster?

As long as it stops fast enough and is correctly guarded there's no reason you can't use them even in production shops. It's easy enough to want to only buy quality iron machines, but there are often issues that get in the way of that. Might be availability, required maintenance or restoration...

    Should you speak the truth?

Seeing my mum and dad for the first time since xmas day, she's made me cupcakes and I'm getting county reknowned sausage rolls and scotch eggs from the Fladbury Pie Shop! Who needs more?

    Sedgwick or axminster?

I thnk there would be plenty of support if you had a site saw or something and wanted to get the axi. But not in the direction you were thinking! The Axi is perfectly fine but you own something of a much higher standard.

    Should you speak the truth?

80% herd immunity will only work with the original covid-19 variant that was less virulent. With the newer ones that are now most common, closer to 90 and 95% is required. By the end of tomorrow, certainly! I'm booked in for Tuesday. A birthday haircut!

No table saw, am I missing out?

All depends on what you want from it and how you plan on incorporating it. I've seen plenty of people put even a large saw like the F2 into a large workbench so you work around it. You can get cast iron topped ones that are only say 600x600 square and just add extra wings later if you want...

    DIY Drum sander motor?

You could just try a corded drill. EDIT: as above, it won't do it any favours!

    Sedgwick or axminster?

I would find a way to make the Sedgwick do what you want. Don't have to spend massive on a better fence. @Steve Maskery has a video on making your own proper fence with no welding involved. The mitre gauge bit is different of course 🤷‍♂️

Matt @ Badger workshop shows that *gasp* you can make a crosscut sled and use the crown guard on your tablesaw

Just saw in my evenings viewing. Nice to see someone with a bit of a following showing how simple it is to be safe and clean and still get the same end result.

    Shed Insulation question.....

Nice. I assume from the tools on show you've screwed that down rather than glued it as one large floating floor?

    1/ 4" trimmer router question

Have used a 20mm straight bit in mine before though I tend toward smaller. Just one from a cheap trend set of about 30 bits. Since you'll do it in 2 passes (per layer as it were) anyway you might as well aim for half ish the size you need.

    Should you speak the truth?

A good friend is one that can take you calling them a **** if they are being a ****. On the subject of vaccines I am all for letting people choose whether to get a vaccine, just as I am all for people choosing whether to do business with or see people who haven't for non medical reasons. It'll...

    DIY Drum sander motor?

You can buy similar 550 motors that are used in drills all over ebay in various speeds but remember that drill will still be geared and not direct drive I would have thought. You can buy them geared downbut not sure on how far you go and whether that would be too far. To be honest you could...

Dust Cyclones - Prevent barrell collapse with a relief valve

I'll add, the motor isn't under strain due to a blockage (it'll actually draw less current as there is less air to move) , but with no air flowing over it it will heat up and burn out.

    Howdens Joinery prices?

Ha, true I suppose. Not that I'd ever get those companies in for a job anyway.

    Howdens Joinery prices?

I always vowed that if I was ever getting the big window companies in to do a house I'd get 3 of them in all at the same time. Anyone that can slash 50% off an initial quote after just asking for it is not worth my time.

    hinge advice

I think the issue you have is the same my brother had. Your 45mm thick "side" means that if you mount a kitchen hinge designed go into 18mm sides, the door won't cover your whole 45mm side and will leave a bit protruding on the hinge side. If that's the case, notch your 45mm timber down to...

    arnold laver

Is odd how it works out. I think my options are basically kellaway (builders merchants but they stock medite now and are local so easy to get to), AL, avonply in Bristol and Davies timber in brum. Would love to have a proper timber yard near me. Need to get about 8 sheets of birch in soon so...

    Howdens Joinery prices?

I think its fairly common though I don't actually know. I understand a discount for trades, 20% off lines they use a lot or whatever is fine, they put more business through. But 90%? Thats just making up numbers and adding a discount to make it reasonable.

No table saw, am I missing out?

Tablesaws are nowhere near as ubiquitous as cars. Billions need a car every day.
