    Pocket jig opinions

Kreg have new ones out right now, the 520 and 720 Pro. I have a K4 that rarely gets used but can't say the imperial measurement has been an issue. Most sheet stock is nominal measurement anyhow.

    Rage and Incra

The incra kit is worth the money. Peter Sefton is an authorised dealer and in my opinion the go to place for Incra in the UK. However I agree that adding Incra accessories to an Evolution saw is probably not the way forward. I'd be inclined to sell the Evolution on and buy a better saw. You...

Advice on table saw on 8x4 table...

All depends on the saw you use and what elements of it you want to retain in the final fit. If you want to use the attached fence then you are clearly going to need to place the saw on a leading edge. If it comes with any additional wings that add value (like mitre slots) then you may want to...

    Your opinion about logos.

Given the original design is not common and the product itself appears to not be a current item it is unlikely that there has been any upkeep of patent or design copyright even if there was any originally. One other thing to be aware of is that 'Design Right' legalities in the UK have changed...

    Spokeshaves

I have several spoke shaves from old Stanley's and Preston's to some LN and Veritas versions. My favourites are the LN Boggs flat and the LN bronze flat model along with the low angle Veritas one. Obviously and as already pointed out, they need setting up right and need to be sharp but apart...

    Your opinion about logos.

Totally agree with AJB Temple's comments, business realism is paramount. My day job is business development management, albeit a niche element of it, but I have seen enough excellent products never see the light of day because the business element was ignored. Admittedly it all depends on the...

    Minimax Pro 32 bandsaw

Just picked up a used small form factor Minimax Pro 32 bandsaw. Other than it being a Minimax I know little of it and there is virtually nothing on the web. The wheels are a little over 12" in diameter and throat height is just over 6". The thing is built like a tank and the spine is one of the...

    Your opinion about logos.

Don't take my comments as a thread killer, I'm just reiterating the impact of openly discussing specific aspects of your yet to be released product/s. Keep the conversation going please but be mindful of specifics if you are not yet committed to them is all. I commend your efforts and a new...

    Your opinion about logos.

All this talk of design copyright is completely moot. There is absolutely nothing stopping anyone from making that exact design. This is a really useful thread and I'm learning from it but be aware this is public domain and this very conversation impacts the release of any eventual released...

    Your opinion about logos.

I think you need to at least register the serious contenders before asking a public forum which one you should go for. Your thread has >1000 views and 51 replies from multiple members. You're musing very cheap options which are readily available to anyone viewing this, just saying.

    Your opinion about logos.

If your market is professional then fit, finish and presentation is key. I would say that tool is crying out to be properly anodised and that could essentially and actually be your logo, i.e. the colour of your tools. Something like a RAL purple would set it aside and make the tool easily...

    Trend/Yeti smart bench. Anyone bought?

Hi Aaron, I'll be dropping a call as well. Do you have direct contact details?

Vice advice for a beginner please!

There is a Charlies near Shorpshire and they do the Eclipse 9" version of that vice for £72. I'm fairly sure they are open in your area. That said, as others have mentioned you will get more for your money with an old Record or similar style but do a bit of research before you go that route...

    Trend/Yeti smart bench. Anyone bought?

Yeah I'd love to justify a shaper but not sure it fits my workflow right now. Ask to be put in touch with some Yeti users, people will start talking like they are on truth serum after a couple of minutes of shared interests.

    Trend/Yeti smart bench. Anyone bought?

I totally get the room issue, most of us here don't have spare space we can allocate to machines without fully justifying it. I'm not entirely sure how work piece hold down works on this machine, I've seen a few videos where standard clamps are used (not ideal) but I suspect it's worth a chat...

    Trend/Yeti smart bench. Anyone bought?

I just had a better look at this, the lead screws are only used on the Z axis and the XY are rack and pinion, direct drive (not geared) but rack and pinion none the less. Lead screws on the Z axis are not a bad option, maybe a very slight issue with 3D relief work but for cutting out sheet it...

    Trend/Yeti smart bench. Anyone bought?

Lead screws are essentially deep helical threaded rods that drive the xyz axis mechanisms either via turning a held nut on the rod or turning the rod itself moving that fixed nut. There is inherent backlash in this design, its not very efficient and wears relatively quicker than other designs...

    Trend/Yeti smart bench. Anyone bought?

Had to google it myself as well. I have a few CNC machines including two scratch built 8x4 precision machines so I can appreciate the space saving format. The details are fairly sparse and I would question why that is but on the surface of it I can see that being a very viable option for a lot...

Make fun of the foolish american buyer....

A tool is worth what someone is prepared to pay for it therefor your plane is worth $150. No being made fun of here. I already have a metal plane collection thing going, I daren't look at the wood planes as well......

    Drill press replacement

Not sure but I doubt it. I stripped mine down completely to rebuild it but don't remember any 'Made in Britain' tags when I broke it down. The D32 is not that different from the Clarke or the Draper variants so I suspect they all come from a similar source. A lot of Chester Machine Tools 'Green'...
