    scaffold board rubbish

I have to own up to making and selling stuff made from pallet wood - BUT I'm up-front about it and that it's "recycled timber from pallets" is part of the product's USP. What does seem to get sold in some of the arty shops around here are industrial looking tables made from used (but...

    Lidl DIY tools 6th June

The Mac Allister track/plunge saw is reduced at Screwfix to £79.99 (from £99.99) - altogether a rather better saw than the Parkside in my view - worth the extra tenner.

a heads up, company gone under?

Yebbut .. 1 Have you got the goods yet? - if not . . . 2 Your credit card provider/bank is the place to make a claim - the SagePays of this world only process the transactions and they are correct in what they say about your query. I would flag it up with your card provider right now.

    Corner clamps

Have a look at Banggood tools - and Dennis at Hooked on Wood https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCuvjeMfKGqSoYc32Xk5MLfQ reviewed some recently.

The numptiest of outdoor project questions..

To answer the second part - do what most people do and go to the timber yard and select the stuff you want (and mark it if they're going to deliver for you) . . . and for the first - I'd go to a supplier of farm gates, have a look at what they have and take some photographs and measurments (if...

    Air filter

The Record "kit" is just 4 bits of chain and some screw hooks - not brilliant and awkward to load the box to the chains as it's quite heavy and heavy at one end. I made a cradle fixed to the ceiling joists for mine - and being tall I have "pockets" in the cradle to store the remotes for the...

    Air filter

As suggested it's probably a badge-engineered version of the Record AC400 (or vice versa) and a couple of other brands. I've got one fixed to the ceiling of my workshop and it does a good job - the one issue is that the remote control is a bit flakey needing to be fairly precisely aligned with...

Screwfix, what an utter pain in the proverbial

Tip: I've done this . . . order the item you want online and pay for it with card - when it's at the shop collect it, hand it straight back for an instant refund and then buy it with your voucher - simples, if stupid that you have to resort to that.

Screwfix, what an utter pain in the proverbial

.... very much like Laceys nearby in Stratford-upon-Avon - run by two very helpful, but miserable as sin, brothers - sadly the rent (and Robert "spit" Dyas opening in the town) got the better of them and it's now a Vison Express store.

Plywood desk - what about the edges?

Agreed - this table was made with 18mm birch ply - complete sheet for the visible surface (obviously) - and then a frame underneath about 20cm wide butted to the edge to give the visual of thickness. Edges left visible with just a light sand (one or two very small voids in the laminations...

Suggestions for budget £70 cordless drill and accessory drill bits

Don't laugh - the stuff that ALDI sells is certainly fit for purpose and great value - bare drill + 2 batteries + charger . . . but I'd look at the Bosch "starter kit" for drills

    Kitchen bench with storage

1 - multiple shallow passes on table saw (if you have one) with the blade guard off* and moving the fence slightly (what the US YouTubers do, but with a "dado stack" - several blades bolted together ... not avialable/legal? in Europe) * not really a great idea, mind your fingers. 2 - multiple...

    Kitchen bench with storage

Pretty much what you have said - but is there a base? - your pic doesn't have one. If the benches aren't going to be moved (i.e. they're "bench seating" as loved by Robert Jamison on Your House Made Perfect) then a simple top frame, center support and lift up panels would seem to work just...

    Kitchen bench with storage

One option might be to not have the "chassis" that you've made and just make the boxes from 18mm MDF (ideally MR MDF 'cos it's better) and pocket hole joints - and just a frame around the top for what I assume will some sort of seat board (is that to be upholstered?) to be fixed to

Post a photo of the last thing you made

I believe that Ocado also uses green crates in some areas (may be for the tie up I think they have with Morrisons) - a couple of those would set off my storage nicely ;)

I Looks like you have a red Ocado bin for storage! . . . I designed my shed racking around eight of them :) :) Love the bench, too good to work at.

Tut, tut - attention to detail - the tops of the legs were rounded over on the John Alan 60s version :):) Looks good.

    Penguin Isokon Donkey wip

Thanks - I've simply not had time to get started with my project . . . the major projects with garden stuff and jobs (like making gates) for customers is now complete so just maybe . .. Have to say I favour using top quality ply and leaving it raw as I rather like the exposed edges - and...
