Recommendations for precision guide bush + sub base + router combination

" I've tried the Trend unibase, but they are peppered with holes, none of which seem to fit the routers and centre the guide bush. " Really Robin? I've had two of these and 6 different routers over the years...it took a bit of fiddling, but both my 625 and two 96 clones fitted.

    MISSING OFFICE LIFE

Dr. Bob, I have to confess, I retain a rich vein of such graphic, earthy, hyperbole; garnered from three and a half manic years in "Darry" (Londonderry) in the mid-seventies. My co-shift-workers then were an inventive, coarse, uninhibited bunch of escapees from.the local asylum and at least 20%...

That depends on whether it's a tail vice, a Moxon, or a Record on a swivel....

    MISSING OFFICE LIFE

" Finished work early, not by choice. " Me too, three years off 'the magic 40'. I moved house, 200 miles and "across the shough" just after, then spent the last two years supporting Mrs Q. through chemo and trying to renovate our 'retirement' bungalow around that. We have now been...

    DeWalt 733s

Optime III, it says on them: https://www.onedirect.co.uk/peltor/3m-peltor-optime-iii-headband-version?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI-6zg9fuD7AIVis_tCh1wZgXOEAAYASAAEgLJ5fD_BwE Whilst this is the cheap end of the Peltor scale, I find them effective to use. As I have mild tinnitus and use two hearing aids...

    DeWalt 733s

Umm...don't know! Will check in garage and get back to you Bob. I used the Army issue ones lots when running a shooting range, so it was a simple choice when I needed domestic hearing defence. I can't afford to shop in M&S...;) Sam

Any use for broken bandsaw blades?

Strap a few short lengths of it together in parallel with tape = a rasp. Sam

    DeWalt 733s

Yup. What Lons/Cons/Bob said: 733's surfacing hardwood rival takeoff with afterburners engaged for RAF Tornados when it comes to noise. I bought my Peltors specifically because of owning a 733 and the usual recycled oranges stuffed with old newspapers and a headband just didn't cut it. Sam

    DeWalt 733s

ALWAYS, ALWAYS, ALWAYS push down on tbe locking bar after you've adjusted the cutting height. I had 5 good years with a 733 and this was the only source of poor finish. Oh, and don't try anything over 4' long without it bolted down OR, someone feeding, a.n. other catching. DAMHIKT.... Enjoy! Sam.

Using Melamine Chipboard as a Whiteboard

Lads, whiteboards are best cleaned with a properly intended fluid, one that has a surfactant in it. I taught off one for years, and believe me, nowt else takes ALL the writing off, quickly, permanently. Even "permanent" felt tips if you use them by accident. A real whiteboard will also wipe...

    Floating shelf brackets

Our went up with eccentric-bored and tapped steel dowels threaded onto 150mm screws with threaded shanks. Screws were wound into the wall, using the biggest rawlplug-look-alike I've ever seen You could rotate the eccentric to level the oak sleeper beam. Once lined up, simple silly cone into...

    Wadkin AGS 10" vs 12"

Yup. Correct. I also have an AGS 10" and have tried this out. It works, but you run the risk of a shredded table insert and severely discoloured Y-fronts ("G'wan" that generic title ages me, I know!) if you get too excited and raise the blade too high while still running. No, it's not DAMHIKT...

    leather strops and buffing compound

Phil and Chris, "Thank You " both, especially Phil; my wee bundle arrived today and I am chuffed. There is enough there to prettify an old ML8 faceplate/ply 'wheel' and have enough on the side for a couple of shaped strops for hand working. Ahhh......bisto! Sam
