    we ended up using UPS for packages to and from France..... a tad more expensive but totally reliable.... a lot of the probs is with the drivers......our's was a reg visitor to our house.... a really nice guy and happy to speak English and my ribbish sorry rubbish French...lol....

    u may be lucky with some cast iron........BUT it's full of impurities...... this needs carbide to do the job properly..... whats to loose but a few quid with HSS......worth a try..... in all my time with cast iron n HSS, spent more time sharpening.....     for edge repairs.... use a small wedge between the loose cover and the use a spray adhesive...differing grades....masking up everywhere..... it will get u outta a hole.....

    just to say it will take several goes but eventually the Ultra sonic cleaner will take off even baked on oil..... ie, m/cycle cylinder heads n barrels....kan't find my photo's at the mo.... just use the correct fluid..... ps, as for carbs dont leave them in for hours they will turn black.....

    I was going to suggest Graphite but u already have done it...... On a similar note I like to give additional lube and clean to the acme threads under the tables of my milling machines.... I found the best way to clean is to soak em in WD40 or similar for a few hours if not days just to soften...

    if it's Japanese then, it wont leak oil..... speaking of m/cycles.....lol....... even worse my first bike was a 150cc Bantam had orrible slot headed screws..... no hammer impact drivers then..... luckily all the excess Hermatite stopped them falling out....hahaha... didn't do much for the leaks...

    Just to say I can only buy PU glue in the smallest of bottles or 750mm......no chance for a cartridge.... TiteBond is def not available here....... even biggish bottles of Super glue are not avail unless I get it from Germany.....

    my 2 pence worth...... we had some outside furniture made and the guy used that expanding Polyurethane glue..... After 2 years it's all comming apart.....thats the non stressed parts that were pin nailed together.... Bought some myself as a look see.......for it's gap filling properties...

    UK alternative to pipe clamps?

    BSS or British Steam Services will have pipe up to 6m in length..... they of course have recognised shorter lengths but will cut and thread pipe almost while u wait....... Black painted pipe is the norm but for those that have plenty u can buy Stainless Steel as well......

    What do you wear for restoring machines and tools?

    to hot here for anything other than shorts and a T shirt.....hahaha..... it takes years to learn to work clean...... can do several hours painting with a brush and hardly a splash on my hands.... as for the fumes all work like that is done outside in the shade.....
