    The New Ferrex Bandsaw Aldi

To do that job (it's called re-sawing or deep ripping) you need a very coarse blade, no more than 3 TPI. This is because the gullets need to carry away a lot of sawdust, so they need to be big. If you try to do the job with a finer blade, the (small) gullets get clogged and cutting stalls.

Andy, that's just nit-picking... :) OK, Fair point.

If you want to make a pair of winding sticks, there is an excellent write up (EIIDSSM) here. :) S

    Shaker style MDF doors

I'd say you would be lucky to keep the door flat at that size, especially if you stick 6mm MDF only on the front. Have you considered using a rail & stile cutter? It's an easy way of making a 5-piece door, and you can still use a domino for the bigger ones.

    Scheppach wet sharpener-Aldi

Wow! Somewhere I have an original Tormek. But it is from before they went stainless, so it's a bit rusty. Good edge, but a PITA mess to use.

    Who's responsible for water supplies?

Yes, that the diagram my neighbour ha been given. This is complicated by the fact that these houses share driveways. They were built before ordinary people had cars. It's a generous entry for a hand-cart, it's rather tight for cars, that sort of shared. But he reckons that that just means that...

    Who's responsible for water supplies?

I don't know, Bod, I'd have to find the paperwork. I can't remember who my insurer is, to be honest.

    Who's responsible for water supplies?

That is what would have thought, Mike. Neither of us is on a meter, I don't know about the other two houses. I've not received a letter from ST (but that doesn't mean that one is not on the way. of course).

    Who's responsible for water supplies?

My neighbour came round yesterday. They have a water leak under their drive. There is a stop tap in the pavement outside their house and it serves 4 houses, including mine. They have received a letter from Severn Trent telling them that because it is on private property and beyond the stop tap...

    LED panels

These things are easy to modify if you need to. If you unscrew the edging strip, you will see that the lights go only around the edges. The surface does the diffusing. So if you needed to reduce the area I'm pretty sure that it would be a straightforward job. Usual stupidity disclaimers! :)

    Modern Italian table

Francesco says it is 130 hours of work. If you have any questions he will be happy to answer them (in English!) in the YouTube comments.

    Modern Italian table

You are absolutely right, Mike, though my bigger worry was the tablesaw (cue the pushsticks). But a magnificent project. I could not hope to deliver that.

    Wardrobe rail and fixings

+1 for the oval ones from Toolstation. Good quality and not expensive.

    Modern Italian table

My friend Francesco has made this video of a modern coffee table in padauk. It's all in Italian, but once the talking is over it is worth watching for the techniques (well, most of them...). I think it is beautiful. He says it is the most challenging piece he's ever made. I'm not surprised...

    Vacuum bags

Thanks for the tape info. I must admit I was planning to use silicone. I do have some thick DS carpet tape, but I'm not sure that it would be airtight. I also have some super-sticky outdoor gaffer tape. I'll experiment a bit before I commit my veneer.

    Vacuum bags

Thank you, Deadeye, but my existing bag is 8ft and that is not quite big enough. It's very kind of you to offer, though. =D>

    Vacuum bags

The polythene sheet has just arrived. Although it is not as thick as my existing bag, I think it is going to be just fine, provided I can seal it properly.
