    Wardrobe

I have been videoing this as I've gone along. It's one of the many reasons this has taken so long. I've got all new kit and I'm still learning to use it, so the later episodes are noticeably better than the earlier ones, but here is the trailer. If you do enjoy it, please remember to like and...

    Works perfectly, thanks Mike.

    cooking

I have an 1800g duck to myself and that seems like overkill. I'm enjoying cooking it, though whether or not I shall ever have the appetite to eat it is another matter.

Secret Santa 2019 - thanks, everyone.

Fantastic. Mind you, he may be gone but he's not forgotten. He still owes me a ginger cake. S

Secret Santa 2019 - thanks, everyone.

Well I don't call that much of a kitchen... :) Very nice indeed.

Secret Santa 2019 - thanks, everyone.

Mine is a selection box, too. I was warned it needed to be opened on arrival for the comestibles, but there were a few wrapped surprises, too. I have some clotted cream (good job my cholesterol is tickety-boo :) ) and two different cheeses. I've sampled the Yarg, delicious. On top of that I...

    OSMO application technique

I've just finished my wardrobe with Treatex, which is a similar product. I used a foam roller, but they are big flat panels. As Andy says, it doesn't really matter how you get it on, just get it on. The more important q is not How? but How Much? Less is definitely more and, especially in the...

Mike, would you be prepared to share your drawing? I bet I'm not the only one here who would like to have a go.

    Period timbers

Some of our plaster coving was missing, about a 12" section IIRC. So my dad and my granddad made a wooden mould (granddad was a pattern-maker in his time) from the main plasterwork, and cast a new replacement section from that.

    Period timbers

When I was a kid, our 1901 house had a pitch pine staircase, I remember.

I quite like the idea of hurdling them. :)

    Band Saw tramming advice.

No, no, NO! The fence should be parallel to the mitre slots and the blade tracked to that direction. Altering the fence mucks up crosscutting and jigs and stuff. Learn to do it right from the get-go.

    Band Saw tramming advice.

There is a tracking knob on the back of the machine. Adjust that until it cuts true north. There are lots of resources online (not just mine) which show you how to do this properly.

    Wall mirrors

+1 for painting the rebates black. The edges can look weird otherwise.

My mate Dave has been to visit and brought his camera, which has a wider angle than mine.

On second thoughts, perhaps we could market it - The Great British Table-Off. What do you think? Nah, I was right the first time. S

I want to drill a hole in my saws

I'm not a metal-man, but if I were to attempt this (rather disconcerting, to my mind) operation, I would clamp the steel hard between two pieces of MDF before drilling, to avoid any burring and distortion of the plate..

There is no way on earth I am going to try to compete with you, Mike, no way.

    Wardrobe

Well I need to back up a bit first. The Mack motifs were glued to the doors. I'd already masked off where they would sit before applying the hardwax oil, so there would be good wood-to-wood adhesion. I set three stops up to locate them, that way they would all be in exactly the same place...

    The Ebbsfleet Plane

Andy, I'm shocked, quite shocked. I sure you meant to say I need to go and have a lie down, and not just because it is midnight. :) S Oh, and back on topic, excellent story of the plane.
