    Bend in oak boards

Look at the bottom corners on the pic. This isnt exactly what i meant, but in that vein. If youve got 18mm ply or mdf, you could knock up 500 x 500 and 350 x 350 squares to see how it'll look. Mostly with a nice thick lump of wood, its about seasoning and acclimatising to a house environment...

    Bend in oak boards

In my opinion, i would probably look a bit messy, but you could lay a piece at 90° over another and see what you think 🤔 Are they square or round? Theres options like putting 100mm x 100mm squares underneath in each corner to 'thicken it up' and they could have a moulding in them. Obviously...

    Repair to concrete Garden Ornament

If damaging it would be catastrophic to you, I'd probably follow johnaclements advice, allowing a few days before attempting to move it.... my reasoning is that once the new paw or ears are formed, they can be glued on with clear epoxy if they come off. If the statue is held in your hand and...

Interesting films about Russia, essential viewing!

Yep not good. I think ( from memory ) the average life expectancy of a man there is 68 and the retirement age was raised to 67 a couple of years ago 🤣 ( those numbers might be wrong ) You wouldnt wanna be a russian

    Slate roof ridge tiles Help

Dry ridges can be great, but make sure where the screws pass through the base strip, theres a rubber seal. Some kits just have the screw through a steel plate pressing on the base strip, but they can leak a small bit, so best to add washers inbetween screw and metal plate ( ive done that ) To...

    Mortgage rates / interest etc

No, but to be honest It's cheap enough not to worry. It needs the arm repinning and king pin doing, which my brother and i can do easy enough. My brother has worked on it for th guy before, so we know theres a cpuple of issues, but the price would make up for that 🙃

land line telephone and virginmedia connection help requested

The engineers are paid per call out, whether its a 30 second visit or 4 hours, so often they get you 'working' and dissappear as quick as 20 quid in your fuel tank. We had one recently on a house refurb I'm doing. It was so irritating watching this guy tryinv to get out of doing his job that i...

    Stall set up/advice

How are you doing your baubles? I saw a quick video of a guy making speres on his lathe using a holsaw in a drill ( bolted to bench ), simply advanced the spinning holesaw into the blank slowly as it turned and it cuts the sphere.... you have to stop before you cut through otherwise you have a...

    Head torch recommendations?

Ive got an led lenser and im happy with it. Ive also got 3 handheld led lenser torches. I dropped one off a scaffold and it broke (something internal / on the battery carriage ) i asked lenser to sell me a replacement carriage. They refused and insisted i send it in for repair. A week later it...

Well today i finally got round to trying it out 🤣 ( ive been very busy ) I needed to make 4 window trays and i currently have a roofer on site, so i thought I'd get on with it and if i ran into trouble ( i did ) i could ask ollie! I set the kit up, it seems well built and easy to put together...

    Bend in oak boards

At 19mm, maybe buy veneered ply and then edge it with iron on veneer or contact adhesive ?
