Im not in that area, but see if you can root out one that used to work in the planning department ( theres a guy locally here that was head of planning )
They'll know what buttons to press and have contacts in the right places, along with the knowledge of what's what.....
Hope you are successful
To be fair, 2" celotex ( pir ) will do quite a good job. Interestingly going double thickness doesnt return double the insulation value.
So batten a frame on the wall in 2x2, with uprights at 2' ( osb will be 1220 x 2440 ) and infil with 45mm pir, then osb it.
Now, i know pir isnt cheap, but...
Iiiiiiin fact, armed with the knowledge that older polystyrene tiles are dangerous ( newer ones are fire retardant ) contact the council landlord and demand they remove them 🤷♂️
Tests are 20 quid, ive done a couple, ebay it. Fast turnaround. O.p does state though that it's chrystolite, so im guessing the council know whats there.
Now, the important bit. Polystyrene tiles plus fire equals the equivalent of napalm. If its asbestos, suit up, mask goggles etc, seal the...
Just to add, sometimes, if she says something whilst mumbling, or head turned away from me, i say "speak up!" And it annoys her, she'll get up and walk off. Can be quite useful, try it 👍
Early 40s, didnt used to use ear defenders on site and in my spare time used to build rather powerful car stereo systems. We d8d used to wear defenders for the test runs ( high voljme ) as you'd easily blow an eardrum....
Oh and we went to a motorhead gig where they retook title of worlds...
Thats interesting. Just looked it up on google images. Boot looks ok. We are going to have to get a new ( to us ) family car because my partners astra is way too small ( 3 kids )
I want to get a van with the rear bench seats, but she wont drive one 😒
Ive got an L200 double cab, plenty of boot...
Hi jim, great writeup 🙂 glad you found the time to share, things like this give people inspiration and seeing what can be done gives a bit of confidence to get stuck in and try 👍
To the rest of you, wait till you see the chairs 😉
I think mostly shop made dominos will be for either extra length or better material for exterior use. Ive got some cedar cladding to do and id make cedar dominos.... im guessing the beech would fail after a few years?
I think im going to buy the basic df500 kit and buy the add_ons as needed. The cross stop and trim stop are about 50 quid each, so its not cheaper to buy it as a kit.
In terms of domino sizes, I'll get 5x30s and go from there. I can make a few lengths of domino stock to cut to size as required...
Good tip. In the past ive pinned the polythene with little strips of tape, then applied the good edge.
I had to spray ( rattle can ) anthracite on some damaged paint bits on an expensive aluminium door frame.
I used loo roll centres taped around the perimeter of the damaged area, this allows...
Luckily my job is being plastered shortly, so no skirts / archs, no electric fittings in yet etc, just the windows, rear sliders and a posh front door to protect 😉
Heres a good question.... what masking tapes have you guys found to be best? Do you use t.p.s ( temporary polythene sheeting ) or cardboard? Or something else?
I see you are in devon! You arent called mark are you? I know a chippie nicknamed pasty 🙃
I dont see myself needingn it for joinery, firstly because so far, as a site chippy i havent done a lot of joinery ( windows and doors / tables etc ) and i do have a workshop that is fairly well equipped...
