    Help MT2 stuck

That doesn't look like the screw on one in the diagrams does it! Could be worth drilling through it and putting a long bar on it as a last shot

    .

Out of interest, do you recall what the loan to salary ratio you had was? I wonder how those who have borrowed 4 or 5 times their joint incomes will fare if the rates go that far up again.

    Quality Froe

For kindling I have a small bahco axe of similar weight to the smaller gransfors. If you are only using small diameter stuff I'd go with a lightweight axe for less effort

    Quality Froe

https://gandmtools.co.uk/product/7-froe-for-green-woodworking-etc/ I've had one of these for many years, brilliant for chestnut palings and lath for plastering. Of course you'll need a pole lathe or drawknife and shavehorse to make the handle ;)

Screwfix, what an utter pain in the proverbial

Except the staff won't be able to find it without the computer to tell 'em where it is

    Help MT2 stuck

Looking at the top diagram of post #39 I think the collar (11) is a locking ring, with a pin fitting into a hole somewhere to allow the taper to be unscrewed, that makes me think it could be a left hand thread

    Help MT2 stuck

As I read it nut D holds the collet, nut B being an integral part of the taper/holder

    Help MT2 stuck

If the diagram in post #33 is correct then it will unscrew, it says attach collet holder by tightening nut B, are the flats visible?

    3-jaw chuck

This type of collet holder might work, very useful if you have a through headstock so you can feed a bit at a time out https://drechslershop.de/en/collet-chuck-set-er32

Building a gate between two growing trees

This might be worth a look https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hampshire_gate Used something similar for a chicken pen where access was between a tree and an old post

Perhaps a slightly controversial turning question...

If you've got the room, and it's working I bet you'll find a lot of things to make beside the usual dust gatherers. I much prefer making useful things rather than ornamental, so my list would include: two adjustable lamps complete with shades, parts to repair an old spinning wheel, adaptor for...

Should I shred or should I burn?

Could be worth putting the bamboo on Freecycle, someone may have a use for it on an allotment. The brash can be dealt with by making 3 or 4 H frames and fixing them to cross pieces so you can pile the brash into them. Rope the brash down and run the chainsaw through it to get useful lengths to...

    Hire a Micro Digger?

They do work well, but if there's any distance to cover they are slow. Had an area returfed where I work and it took three of these to keep up with a 1 tonne minidigger as the tipping point was about 150ft away

    Hire a Micro Digger?

Depending on what the old hedge was (i.e will it sucker) you could leave the roots, rotovate lightly, then rake roll and seed. You've certainly got another couple of weeks window for sowing, warm soil in the autumn is better than cold wet soil in spring

    Woodworking for cats

Like the dog owners who let their animals bark their heads off at all hours, leave bags of poo hanging on all the local hedges, and have out of control ones that kill or maim people? I'll stick with cats anyday

    Hire a Micro Digger?

Unless you can get the skip right alongside I'd consider getting a power barrow or mini dumper too

But I'd still like to know which eejit got from Mellitis mellisophyllum to the common name 'b*stard balm'

Balancing Material - Forbo Furniture Linoleum

Artists lino rolls would cover the area you mention and are 3.2mm, cost around £90 or so. Jackson's art supplies have a good turnover so it shouldn't be brittle. Whether it is compatible with your chosen material I don't know, it is a traditional Hessian backed type

The language is mutating (and always has done)

The point about reading is well made, however we are facing a situation where children will be able to read well but have no understanding of the words they speak. The phonics system is very effective but unless efforts are made to complement it with comprehension exercises then children will be...
