Suizan, Hachiemon or other Japanese flush cut saw?

Hi folks, I am looking for a flexible flush cut saw and have seen these two makes on Amazon. Does anyone have any experience of them? also thought about the Stanley, but it’s blade doesn’t seem to flex. I don’t want to spend that much, but £20 seems to be the going rate for them. cheers Steve

    Stair rail joint advice

Thanks for the responses - not too late as this is still work-in-progress. I have all the parts made, except for the spindles - which I am taking forever on! Unfortunately, rogxwhit, I have already had the rails made - so missed the chance to make them in the square. Now that they have been...

    Teknatool Nova 3000 electrical problem

Hi Phil did you get it sorted? I have the 1642 version- Record used to sell. Have you tried their technical department? I have built a few guitar amps over the years and repaired a couple. I am not promising anything, but if all else fails we could troubleshoot the problem together. We...

    Stair rail joint advice

Hi folks, I am scratching my head about whether I can cut the joint on hand rail to a rotated newel post using machines, or whether it will need to be hand cut. see photos. The newels are on an angle, so the joint will need a to sit at around 42 degrees from the vertical, but also have a V slot...

How to describe this oak finish

I wondered if it has been stained before the bandsaw marks have been sanded leaving the stained lines. I am still trying to work out if I like it!

    Trend T4 as pin router?

Hi folks Happy New Year! occasionally, I need a pin router. I make guitars and it would be useful sometimes to have an overhead router, rather than use the router table. I have a DM26 drill stand with a 43mm collar. I have been thinking I could probably rig something acceptable up using a...

Does Builder need permission to connect new house to sewer on my land?

@Jackbequick This is not the place to give legal advice and if you look at my post, it was not my intention to give advice, least of all tax advice. Good luck!

Does Builder need permission to connect new house to sewer on my land?

I am a lawyer by profession. This is the answer. with land law, everything comes down to the deeds/ registered title. You need to get someone to check that for you. I assume there is no pre-existing easement allowing the neighbour to lay pipes etc. If anyone wants to access your land and...

    Apprenticeships

you are making me nostalgic for old money. A ten Bob note for Christmas was really something! half a crown! Threepenny bits! Sixpences!

    Wire inlay first attempt.

I have used copper wire to inlay my logo on guitar headstock, with reasonably pleasing end result. Practice will no doubt make perfect (or less imperfect!).

    Social distancing, .. what's that?

My Dad lived until he was 100, and only died then because he had an accident. At 86, he built an extension on their bungalow, digging foundations by hand. I would hesitate to write off everyone over 80 as having one foot in the grave.

    Social distancing, .. what's that?

There are few more effective means of controlling people than to lead them to believe that they can trust nobody but you. Sadly that has what our politics has become - you can't trust the others, but follow me and everything you ever wished for will come true. I am sure that there are many...
