Hi folks

Happy New Year!

occasionally, I need a pin router. I make guitars and it would be useful sometimes to have an overhead router, rather than use the router table.

I have a DM26 drill stand with a 43mm collar. I have been thinking I could probably rig something acceptable up using a 43mm collar router such as the T4.

if I go down this route , would the T4 be up to routing mortises from time to time using the drill stand?

are there any other 43mm router bodies out there that are preferred (and in production still)?

cheers

steve

They are bit on the small side, but I used to use a similarly small Makita RT0700 to do hinge and hardware recesses at the time and so long as you don't put a massive cutter in it, over say 10mm diameter, and you work down to the required depth in smallish steps I don't see why it wouldn't work
