Countertop cutout fail and how to correct it?

Excellent advice. My jigsaw approach is the same. Anything thicker than 3/4" the jigsaw is for bulk removal only and the neat cut is done with a router. Disinterior advice (post 17) is also good but I'm not really keen on making plunge cuts in thick material with a track saw. Jigsaw is...

    Losing a pet

People who say that, truly need a slap. If you're not a dog person, then keep quiet instead of spouting crap like that. Dogs are a gift, albeit expensive ones (purchase, vet bills, etc) but the joy they bring is priceless.

It isn't silly. They are part of the family. Ive lost 3 dogs (all lived to a good age) and each time it hurt badly.

    Which saw... BandSaw?

Ive previously owned a 250 and still have a sabre 250. The fence on the sabre is way better and Ive never had any problems with it. Im pretty sure Axminster sell a decent replacement fence which fits the 250. Both are decent machines.

    The new hammer

The 2 estwings I use most are an old (early 80's) 24oz curved claw (not the 24oz framing hammer) and a 20oz from around 2012. To be honest, the 24oz is too heavy and the blue handle material is absolutely rock hard so you really feel every impact. I only keep/use it because my dad gave it me...

    The new hammer

Hmm..might have to see if I can find my weight forward. I've got a few estwings..one of which has pat pending (as Phil mentioned). The weight forward looks really cool..like a hammer and and a climbing axe had a weird offspring. But as Doug mentioned, I found it horrible to use and it really...
