    Britain's Best Woodworker

Lump hammer assembly made me cringe..could have at least used a scrap block to protect the work piece. Fairly certain, I've seen Joe on YouTube

That one missing woodturning tool !!!

getting back on topic, I'd love one of the Woodcut pro form tools. They look really nice to use, I'm not sure my lathe has enough oomph to take full advantage of one though.

Its seems really good at the moment, but I don't think its had much use so I'll let you know if it wears out absurdly fast (or explodes)

That one missing woodturning tool !!!

Axminster CBN Wheel 200 x 32mm - 180g I bought it second hand, along with the Ax slow running grinder and tormek jigs off my uncle (who's decided to stop turning) Not sure if the 40mm is better, but this seems good.

Good reason to leave your table saw guard on

re: rip fence. I don't know if this the de facto method, but the way I was shown at college was to line up the gullet (the first one appearing out of the blade slot) with the end of the fence (where the quadrant cut out begins). Thats if the saw even has a rip fence, most come with full...

Good reason to leave your table saw guard on

Exactly the same when I was an apprenticeship. They also had a big Wadkin. Intimidating to look at, but such a nice machine to use if you didn't take the piss. At the even slightest chance of the cut closing up, wedges were knocked in. They also had a Wadkin panel saw..complete with no guard or...

Mt2 revolving centre, but with M33 X 3.5MM thread for scroll chuck (SC4) any ideas.

https://www.oliverswoodturning.co.uk/product/chuck-reversing-adapter/ Edit: Ah, I see you want it to rotate. The only other alternative I can think of is to make one yourself using some like a Paul Howard cup centre and one of these: Axminster Woodturning Chuck Wall Mount - M33 x 3.5mm

    Hardwax oil over application?

As mentioned, its probably been applied slightly too thick. It will dry eventually but ideally you want to remove any excess straight away. Also, might be an idea to increase the room temperature a bit if possible, that'll speed up the curing process a tad.

    what happened to Alf

Oh, I must have got the wrong end of the stick. I didn't post here for a long time and , upon returning, I checked who was still active. I recall one of Alf's last posts being in a thread that had turned into a **** show and she said something like she'd had enough.

    what happened to Alf

I recall she gave me a lot of good advice when I first joined here. During my hiatus, she left in 2012 due to 'childish squabbling'. Her and Paul Chapman are the main two posters from when I first joined that I 'miss'. I also recall selling her a Washita oilstone that I wasn't impressed with...
