S.A.D hitting me early this year

All the SAD sufferers have my sympathy..I know a couple of people who suffer and its like all the energy has been sapped out of them. I'm the total opposite (and a freak)..Winter is my favourite time of year and I love winter cycling. The summer months are my least favourite, my dad thinks I'm...

The last time I made an impossible dovetail, I'm pretty sure (iirc) I cut the tails at 45. As opposed to cutting square and planing the faces at 45, the end result is probably the same. Some of those made mine look damn good:ROFLMAO: The daft thing on this challenge was there are numerous large...

    Slow, slow, very slow :)

Nice solution. I saw an old video from Marius Hornberger doing a similar thing but he used a cordless drill with a jig to partially press the trigger. Your method is more efficient/elegant. Without sounding smug, I'm fortunate my lathe can go from 0 to max speed(s).

    Holding 16mm dia knob tenon

Good advice. I got one of Paul Howards cup centres a while ago and its been really useful for making not just cup centres for spheres. The outcome is the same as Greg described (using a live centre). For me (being lazy) its easier as the bearings are 35mm so I can grab a bit of scrap wood and...

    Holding 16mm dia knob tenon

My first thought for a cheap option was the same as the last one you mentioned. Other alternatives (most expensive to cheapest). 1. Collet chuck. 2. Record power Pin jaws. 3. Record Power pen jaws. Not sure how well they'd grip tbh. If you have enough material to leave a temporary long...

Totally agree..there was a fair amount (money wise) of timber being used. I love how the judge bloke described the ply bed as a good use of ecomomical material. Birch ply has never been economical (imo). it'd be interesting to know when this was filmed in regards to current timber prices.
