    Plugging non round holes

In answer to the last question I stayed well out of the way while DDH did a lot of cussing and swearing, so I am not sure! For future reference what is the correct answer? In answer to the "how did we end up with a non round hole" I am assuming the drill went off the perpendicular while he...

    Plugging non round holes

I dont think there is the clearance between the screw head and the surface to do this without drilling onto the top of the screw. - they didnt go in as far as they were supposed to!

    Plugging non round holes

Help! DDH countersunk screws into white oak with the intention of filling with wooden plugs, however, the holes he drilled have turned out ovalish instead of round. The screws are into the wall and wont come out easily. Any thoughts as to how to plug a non round hole? They are very...

    Door Stops

We have a deep door frame that needs a thick door stop to look right. Can someone tell me the correct way to join the stop to the door jamb and head? Is there a way without using screws/nails as the frame wont be painted. Someone has suggested a rebate, however, i am not sure if we were...

    Peter Seftons Machining Course

Peter (and Sarah and team's) courses should come with a health warning - I went wanting to refinish an old stool and left with an incurable woodworking bug! I haven't done the spindle moulding course but have done a couple of others which have given me the confidence using other tools...

    Dewalt DW733 thicknesser

I am now the very proud owner of a Dewalt DW733 thicknesser. It gives an almost perfect finish except for a tiny score line down the length of the wood. Am I being too fussy? Thoughts? Thanks

    Tritan thicknesser

Has anyone any experience with the Trian thicknesser? I have a Tritan router which is fab. Have been looking at the Dewalt 733 for which I cant find a bad word said about it, but as the Tritan are half the price its got to be worth investigating. Thanks

    Preserving logs

Hi I have rescued some rounds of Apple from the woodpile where the middle of the tree had rotted. Thought that they would make nice holders for growing herbs etc. What is the best way to preserve them for keeping outdoors? They are nicely dried out and the plants in the middle will stay in...

    TRA001 table problems

The worm shaft is metal, however it was the plastic teeth on the micro adjuster that had worn. It's had a reasonable amount of use, DDH says it's user (aka wife error) for not dissengaging the clutch mechanism in the handle fully before turning it. Also, for anyone that comes across this and...

    TRA001 table problems

For anyone interested, we have taken my router apart with a bit of help from Mr Girling. The teeth on the release ring had worn out, hopefully £1.79 of a replacement part should fix it. Am a bit disappointed as it is only 6 months old! Thanks again for the help

    TRA001 table problems

Thanks for the responses, but the problem is the opposite to those above in that the height adjustment won't stay locked for normal use. Not sure if it is something in the handle not engaging properly, or if the clutch is worn. The Spring has been removed. Cheers

    TRA001 table problems

Before I ask DDH to strip down my router, has anyone had problems with a TRA001 triton router holding its height when in a router table? In the past I set a height with the side handle and have then just used the micro adjuster - happy days. However, now when I turn it upside down the whole...
