    Framola brackets for shed project

Dear all My first project was a green oak gazebo with tenons etc all cut by myself. Very enjoyable but tine consuming. I am hopefully starting a lean to shed project this year but time pressures. It will be against the house wall with wall brackets to attach beams. At the other end I am...

    Lean to shed design

Dear all My brother is helping with my planning application for a lean to shed to the side of my corner plot. There is a garden wall which I want to use as the side walls of the shed to maximise space. Beyond the wall is a hedge that I own so there is 310mm between outside face of the wall and...

    Matching newel post caps

Dear members I have nearly finished my staircase refurb. I have preserved the old handrail which I think is Sapele. Regarding adhesive to glue the newel to its base, I have a tube of no more nails going spare. Would that do or something else advisable? Regards Jon

    Replacing newell post

Managed to fit the ground floor newel. Had a look on the first floor and looks like I will need to leave the original base of the newel as no way of removing the whole thing without dismantling the entire stairs as can be seen from the photos. Novice query: The original newel is 80mm and the...

    Replacing newell post

Hi As you all have said I have found the dowels for the stringers tenon. Have had a good look around and underneath and it looks like the outer stringer and its tenon only receive vertical support from the newel. Therefore do I need to prop up the outer stringer to remove the newel?? Regards Jon
