My new folding workbench - I'm after some feedback!

It reminded me a little of the bench by Ron Paulk, but after a quick google I can that this one is very different. I like the design, simple and quick to put together - looks very strong too. Good luck with it.

    Airport security

Amazing that they let stuff like this slip through. My wife was stopped the other week because she hadn't use the regulation size plastic bag. Hers was a bit larger. They made a fuss and had someone repack her make up into the correct size bag!!

My 11 year old niece has a smartphone- im angry

It's really good that you're concerned. Talk to her about it, there is also the flipside of getting drawn into making unpleasant posts or having at go online. It can get you into a lot of trouble at school and blot your copy book big time. Good luck Sorry meant to say - having a go at...

My 11 year old niece has a smartphone- im angry

I'll chuck this in for good measure - children and adults alike From the wired Website - Matthew Honan To test whether I was being paranoid, I ran a little experiment. On a sunny Saturday, I spotted a woman in Golden Gate Park taking a photo with a 3G iPhone. Because iPhones embed geodata into...

My 11 year old niece has a smartphone- im angry

It's very difficult with kids and phones. We have our phones out all the time, the kids see us checking things on them. They look at pictures we have taken on them - it is just seen as normal. There are parents of 8 and nine year olds who let them have old phones and the peer pressure starts...

What did you do in your workshop today ?

Tidy up - made a very basic shoe rack for the kids shoes. Might stop them leaving them everywhere (probably won't) Moved a new treadle lathe into position and did a little 'turning' - while the whole thing wobbled from side to side!

Restoring an old chest - wood discolouration

Are you stripping the paint from the sides and base of the box as well? Could you have a go at sanding in a less noticeable spot (maybe underneath) if there is similar wood and dis-colouration on that face. Might help you decide what to do with the whole box

    Cabinet making and furniture design

Maybe we should revamp the forum tags for members. Stuff like settled in is cosy but not that useful as an armchair warrior can easily notch up lots of posts. We could take Custard's lead and have: armchair warrior wind up merchant obsessed with sharpening keeps asking the same question cack...

Bearing guided router cutters - accuracy

Read the post because I has a cheapo router bearing fly off yesterday and I carved a chunk out of my project as a result. :-x Fascinated by what you are doing though. Do you have any pictures? Sounds like fun (but I guess it's a headache for you) Good luck - hope it all goes well

    new tv licensing laws

Used iplayer this morning. Warning message pops up for old and recorded shows now. We had lots of visits and letters when we moved to new address and didn't have a TV for the first year. Have one now and happy to pay - quality of children's tv and no endless toy advertising is worth it alone...

    advice please

I made a bin store a few years ago from some leftover shed parts. Made the lid far too heavy and the wife couldn't lift it - so guess which ***** has to take all the rubbish out now! We had a front on ours - but is a lot easier to use without - simple to access and take out bins and boxes when...
