Small workshop - Pent or Apex?

Like the idea if the felt at the back to keep the water off in the gap. You can also get in with a batten to pull out any leaves. If the op wants a shed that has existing walls on three sides then it would be difficult to get to the back; but it is not clear to me what he actually wants.

Just looked on GWR website. if you were to get the next train form Totnes you could get a train back Friday evening at 1904 (and the next two trains plus a few early afternoon) for £106.90. A bit more restrictive of times than when I was doing it every week.

Small workshop - Pent or Apex?

If you do not own the wall why do you want to attach the the shed to it, then you have to remove the fixings and repair the wall when you leave. (If you rest the roof on the wall it is not attached) Why would resting the roof on top of a 2.3m high wall mean a more shallow pent. That would give...

    "Russian doll" shed foundation question

You can level with a laser, automatic / surveyors level or a water level (these are a pain in the *** but cheap). Regarding squareness. If you have enough room you can set up two parrellel string lines that project beyond the existing shed. Have the string running from nails driven into the top...

Should I shred or should I burn?

Could you hire a shredder for the weekend. Do you have a place to compost the results.

The shed have to fit in the space available. It is a pity that the op did not repost the photo (see above) of the location in this thread. I would bet that the photo was taken from the back door, the lawn is very small. I also would not be surprised if the gate is hung off a wall that separates...

Photo the location above. I understand that the lawn is small so...

But you can buy insurance for unoccupied houses! It just costs a lot more. When I have gone on holiday I have always turned off the water. But I did have a small leak once that I discovered just before I went away and could not get it fixed. My mum poped around to check up on the house and...

What ideas have you had for reducing Electricity consumption

It should depend on if the room needs a bright light. If you are reading, a workshop, kitchen or other room where you are doing close work or could trip over stuff or the like; yes you need a bright light. A hall maybe low, stairs medium or bright, kitchen bright,, room you just watch TV in...

That is better. Most likely will have cost the seller more in the lost sale price than they saved with the macerator. But you have to deal with the problem.

Since you are ripping the garage ceiling down have you thought about installing a gravity sewage system. I assume that the toilet, shower is for an ensuite or a second bathroom and they went with pumped to reduce the disruption and cost. If there is a foul manhole near the garage you could...

    mobility scooters

When I worked in London about fifteen years the fares were a bit cheaper.. Would get a off peak return from Newton Abbott to Paddington for about £75. Any train on a Sunday evening but had to wait to 1600 (or 1630 on Friday). The Friday train was always standing but I would get on the platforms...

but it would be an epic journey. If you got something smaller you could take it on the train. And the buses once you get it home.

    Dam% Damp

I am no expert on pumped sewage systems so this is speculation on my part. Maybe the macerator/ pump was switched off because no one was in the house. Maybe that is what is recommended for an unoccupied house. The macerator/ pump will be at the low point in the system. toilet, wash basin...

    Sheds and boundaries...

It is helpful for people give advice and others who may criizes that advice if you try to be exact with you statements. "We dont outright own our house it is council owned but we do intend on eventually buying" is a bit confusing. "We dont outright own it" could mean that you have a mortgage...

    Sheds and boundaries...

Do you own the wall with the trellis on the top. If so way not use it as the back wall of the shed. If the wall is 2.3m high that gives you 200mm for a roof. Do you own the car parking behind the wall or is just designated for you. If so you could overhang the parking slightly.
