    Choosing a chuck.

As above. I've also got the small Ax lathe, and opted for what I think is now called the SC2*(previously the RP2000) Reason for that choice was the weight, which I felt had I used the bigger SC4 would have put too much strain on the lathe main bearing. It would prematurely wear it out. It is...

    Previous finish for refinishing

Thats what she used before and it fkd it up royally. I think varnish is not a finish we can use here I thought oil for ease of use, doesnt really require any training- wipe on/wipe off. But with a residue of cellulose probably hanging around a replacement cellulose is likely the better option.

    Previous finish for refinishing

Ok. Sister had a dining table. oak/oak veneer, main table top is veneer. A bit back she tried to refinish the table in varnish, which didnt take, and left the top sticky to the touch. I couldn't honestly say for sure but i think a cellulose finish originally. Recommended a few things for her...

    Development of the pole lathe

Im just watching "The story of English furniture on BBC iPlayer Does anyone know of any references or examples of when pole lathurians moved out the woods and into specially designed workshops. In it there was a woodcut showing a turner on a pole lathe, but not a springy tree but a solid...

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

Rolled onto the books in 20th march 2024 It doesn't really matter how many inhumane laws the conservative party initiates, they'll still be immoral, and can be fought on those grounds. I expect the nazi party during their tenure enacted similar laws

    THE FOURTH OF JULY

I honestly can't believe the general public would readily agree to that if they could parallel any of it to themselves. But with a right wing media, full information will be thin on the ground. Mind you, They got brexit done™ Didn't they ?

Advice on building a steamer for steam bending

I've seen a steam chamber made from just a plastic bag. So nothing extravagant is needed.

    Wenge is it African rosewood?

Wenge is completely different visually. African rosewood is one of those names that they use on a host of timbers, but though it is similar to true rosewood, its not the same and is missing the dark streaks commonly associated with rosewood. I like Wenge. Its pretty striking. Just dont get a...

How would you cut game counters from dowels?

I'd also be opting for the bandsaw. With a fine tooth blade, and even go so far as the wrap the rod in either tape, or even several layers of paper, just whatever prevents the breakout. Tape, obviously you have the issue of its sticky residue, but paper, you lay the rod on a sheet of newspaper...

Festool TSC 55 cordless plunge saw - Riving knife vs KickBackStop model?

Cordless is ok but its more site orientated, if you are working from home in a workshop 240v(or 110v) will give you more power and longer use. Its less likely because its in board material. Only really presents a kick back issue if it is in solid timber which as we know can move as tensions...
