Chip extractor DIY (non) filter bag

Height is 790mm The downside is that it's got Axminster printed on it. There you go Sporky & Pete, you can fight it over the surface area Brian

    A Bucky Lamp WIP

When it's fully assembled I'll try and do a short video to give you a better impression. At the moment I'm half way through changing all the LED's round to correct the spacing. Brian

    A Bucky Lamp WIP

Both shells now fitted with lamps and wired up:- And from the outside (protective film still in place):- And energised:- Brian Edit - I've just realised that all the LED light rings have been installed upside down. That's why the images appear to be in pairs. Oh dear, a hard decision...

    How much??

Ah well, in that case I'll pass that one by. Pity, it's got a bodkin in it. My wife is always complaining that I pinch her bodkin.

    A Bucky Lamp WIP

That's it Sporky. Hopefully I will achieve my idea as proclaimed in my introduction:- "Have something that draws the eye INTO the ball. Yes, Yes; a light feature that draws attention. Now that would be a conversation piece." I achieved this today after sawing up a ton of dead elm logs - from...

    Reliable diy drill depth stop

My usual method of depth indication is a piece of sticky tape wrapped around the drill bit, however today it failed me on some delicate work. So I came up with this:- simple and very effective. Brian

    Using a drumsander

If you attempt to use the whole 115mm width you'll find that the tail is not in the right place for the anchor. Some months ago one of our members overcame this by cutting a new slot in the cylinder and repositioning the gripper. I think I'd rather have a 40mm roll available! I'm fortunate in...

    A Bucky Lamp WIP

The next stage is assembly, so here we are on our kitchen table where it's a lot warmer and tidier than the workshop:- And fully assembled, at least the wood elements, with a couple of coats of spraycan acrylic lacquer:- Taking advantage of a nice bit of sunshine this afternoon. Brian

    Using a drumsander

One thing I do is to pass the workpiece through at an angle so that the whole cylinder is used each time. This may also help by minimising local heat build up. Brian

    Circle cutters?

Do the circles have to be accurate? I use scissors for cutting all grades of abrasive papers. Brian

    A Bucky Lamp WIP

Progress has been made since my last post but it's been a bit of a roller-coaster not helped by the winterval and open season for bagging mince pies with all the trimmings. The next phase was to produce the lamp backplates and front covers out of 3mm acrylic sheet. This was to be done on my...

    The Grammar Thread

A saying that people often get wrong involves under/overestimate. This is a recent example regarding the closure of Hunterston B Power Station:- 'Station director Paul Forrest said the economic contribution made by the plant, which is run by EDF Energy, could not be underestimated' He should...

    Joke thread

Helmets too. The ski poles look as though they'd be useful in lift queues.

How would you go about creating something like this?

Some not very useful comments so far. This is a basic cabinet construction and if you are wanting to get into good woodworking design and techniques I suggest a start by googling 'Chest of Drawers Construction Plans' and you come up with things like this:- which will give some idea on the way...
