Sip 3hp twin bag extractor bags

I don't know the size you need but I find it handy using longer bags than needed on my Jet extractor. If I use the correct size when they are full there isn't enough spare bag at the top to close them up so they just sit there open until they get knocked over and spill shavings all over the...

Paint spec for renovated sash windows

Aluminium primer can be difficult to apply, of the ones I've used I found Dulux went on easiest. It does need a lot of stirring before you use it and it can wreck brushes quite quickly. I don't know if it gives better results than other options but it does seem to seal timber really well. I...

    Idigbo For External Garage Doors?

I made a large pair of doors (2.5m high) for the back of my house out of it about 15 years ago and they are still okay, they haven't really moved or started rotting yet anyway. They have leached some yellow oil/tannins from the joints but the doors are painted white, don't think that's a...

Paint spec for renovated sash windows

Zinsser AllCoat does seem to be the decorators favourite paint at the moment. I don't like adding more options but if you do go down the oil based route Aluminium primer is worth looking at. Even if you do use proper putty to point you can still use something like Timba Glaze to bed the glass...

Kitchen making and extraction hood height

I had a similar dilemma a few weeks ago when replacing the extractor in my rental property. I thought the existing one seemed low so checked the regs for minimum heights and found it should be at least 650mm above electric hobs and 750mm above gas hobs. The old one was about 700mm above the...

Floor to ceiling doors - how to?

Old thread I know but thought I would post this solution that I saw on a boiler cupboard today, not my work just in a house I'm working at. No stops on the floor just magnets in the edge of the doors towards the bottom, seemed to work well.

Spindle Moulder Tooling for Sash Windows

Afraid I just grabbed the image from Google, all I know is that it's from one of Charles Haywards books, I don't know which one but I do know you won't go far wrong with any of them!

    PU adhesive

That is a great price, it's over £20 in Toolstation! I buy PU glue in the sealant tube style these days, it is more expensive but I think worth it as it's much easier to deal with and not as messy. I always avoided the tubes as after using the normal stuff I presumed there would be problems...

    Box sash windows

I have seen the sills made in two parts before, the main part made of something like 6"x3" with a bevel on the front half then a piece of something like 3" x 3/4" with a bevel on planted on top to form the step if that makes any sense. Regarding seals I like the hidden compression style around...

    Copper clad worktops?

Update on the copper top for those interested as I finally remembered to get a quick photo today, it's been in place for a couple of weeks now. We found someone who could do the bending and they also cut it more or less to size, just needed a bit of careful trimming with an angle grinder. It...

    Blum drawer stabilisers?

I'm going to be fitting some 1200mm wide x 440mm deep x 180mm high Oak drawers in a kitchen island on Movento runners (probably 70kg), they will have knobs or pull handles so not push to open. Will I need the side stabilisation kit, I've never used it before, although I've never fitted drawers...
