    Joke Thread 5

Love to know what the original joke was with an alien in a spaceship and a stick of Dynamite on there.

Sip 3hp twin bag extractor bags

It’s good that you can give the stuff away, can be a problem sometimes.

    Brummer stopping filler going hard?

I use Everbuild, only two colours but you can blend them together. Also you can add a little water when it starts to harden in the tub. Ian

Sip 3hp twin bag extractor bags

May be wrong but I thought it was the circumference you need, which of course is the measurement across a flat bag times two. Obviously if you are running low that means you can measure one easily enough, Plus one for longer than needed, and be careful with the grade of plastic used, we ended up...

Tannin marks after Oak glue up

I was taught not to use water as it will creep into the joint though capillary action, so all I’ve ever done is scrape with something suitable and then a dry wipe. Have you been doing anything with wire wool? The bits from that are plentiful. Should sand off fairly easy.

    Barrel top dresser delaminated

Not even sure what one of those looks like lol. A photo of thr damage is needed, sorry

    Brummer stopping filler going hard?

Yes useful, but if it softens after hardening what’s to stop it doing it on a piece of furniture etc, say in hot sunlight? Btw I’ve never used it.

    Benchtop workbench

And just noticed the bits that give it height between the top and the ski feet, good design to prevent wracking. ✅

    When book matching goes wrong...

Definitely use it, and I hope she laughs as long as I did when I saw the spoiler. Sorry but now I’ve seen the bird it’s just not as funny. I wouldn’t mention it! In fact definitely don’t say a word and act surprised lol.

Looks very good though. Couple of not very good pics.

    Best tool storage bench?

For a practical cost effective solution most use free to take away kitchen cabinets, not as sturdy as that one maybe but easily beefed up. Surprised that it doesn’t come with some form of a plinth to stop shavings and everything else from going under there though.

    16 Amp Plug & Socket.....How Tight?

They would have been better filling the insides with hot melt glue and sticking the top back on too, different situation but essentially how I waterproofed connections on outdoor Xmas lights when I used to do them. Ian

Post a photo of the last thing you made

That timber looks pretty good to me.

    Idigbo For External Garage Doors?

The wood database is always worth checking if unsure, in this case it seems that it is moderately durable to durable for outside use. That would be good enough for me. https://www.wood-database.com/idigbo/

    Floorboard replacement in lounge

Welcome btw. Yes packing tacked into place, sistering ( doubling the joist size by fastening to the side of the original) would be probably not doable as the insulation is in place? Certainly you don’t need to leave the 20mm expansion gap for two reasons, the boards are going to be fastened...

    Vice lining?

I’ve always just had well planed bare wood, lining vice faces is a relatively modern fad. How tight do you need to squeeze a piece of work? If you are planing it, it is probably small or it would be against a stop on top of the bench so doesn’t need to be held that tight, if you are cutting...

    Veneer press question

The bag could be repaired with duct tape? Last time I did it, it was so easy and successful using a shopvac. Ian

    quick capacitor question

Just please be careful, even with the brand new one, put a screwdriver across the terminals to short out any charge that may be in there before you touch with fingers. Ian
