    What are these handles called?

It seems to me as if the one that shipped from the US for £78 is just some bits that you can pick up very easily plus the two ball ended wing nuts, there are firms out there that do things if you are prepared to just cobble things together a bit yourself, my jigs often incorporate a very...

    Garden bench design help needed

Yes he has, so I went back and had another good look at it and spotted there is a central curved support under all the slats as well, I think it’s a laminated piece, which sounds complicated but it isn’t at all really, it’s just thin strips glued together. Ian

    This is me

Hi and welcome sounds like you’re going to be busy! it’s helpful for nosy beggars like me if you could just put the county that you’re in on your Old School badge. Helps if a location is needed re supplies etc. Cheers Ian

Looking for a company in the UK that can fix a Delta bobbin sander?

Well if it were me I would just set to and take it apart, it can’t be that complicated a machine. Presumably it still works, you just can’t get the spindle undone. Ps. You don’t need a particular company to service it any local general engineering works will be able to sort it if you feel it’s...

I would like to see that David, always wondered how they were made. And as to planing the flats on a pencil, well you’ve gone up in my estimation ha ha

Very micro hydro - how to

It’s almost as if they’re trying to make it impossible to do. If it was me and I really mean this I would just do it and sod em. It’s not as if you’re stealing the water it’s going straight back in again, and they do have to catch you first! what you are actually doing is borowing a little bit...

Looking for a company in the UK that can fix a Delta bobbin sander?

Welcome by the way, I’m not an expert and it’s very different to mine, but that fan shaped thing just looks to have come off the plate at the bottom and it looks to be held on with some little tabs, I’m fairly sure that is nothing to do with tightening up the spindle which is normally a two...

    Decent hinges anyone

Yes, the other thing I stay well clear of is Phillips/ Pozi screws on what would otherwise be top quality furniture, really let’s it down.

Very micro hydro - how to

That TV programme must be available somewhere – it was really good, and it was done for people like you to copy the methods, I seem to remember that he diverted the flow slightly so that he had a good fall onto the wheel, as was just said fall rather than flow.

Very micro hydro - how to

No, but I did see **** Strawbridge on tv doing it once, the amount of elec from a very small stream was impressive. I seem to remember it was a constant 2 kW and of course you can do it again a little bit further down the hill. Ian

The shutters sound interesting, how about a work in progress with pictures, are they the folding type that fit into a box at the side of the window casing?

    Quick "How to" please

I think you may have to invest in one of those right angle chucks that fit in your existing drill. Ian

Careful who you let teach you (table saws again)

Oh damn, I forgot that, reserved for the seventh level in Hell definitely. Can’t imagine trying to actually work in one of those things.

Careful who you let teach you (table saws again)

I’m sure you’re right, and as I said he needs to go on a course, but give him a chance he’s young and he is trying to help get people started. Ps Victor Meldrew never belonged to the nanny state! - " don’t get me started "
