    Slatted doors.

Have you thought of using woven slats like the attached link https://brian-ellison.squarespace.com/new-gallery-76/ I did a linen basket some years ago. I used wooden slats 4mm thick by 30mm wide. I also used 4mm stainless rods for for the ones running at 90 degrees. Use a standard Mortice and...

Changing out 3 phase for 1 motors on Planer thick.

2 voltages quoted on a 3 phase motor are dependent upon whether the windings a set in star (415), where the voltage drop is across 2 motor windings or in delta (220) where the voltage drop is only across 1 motor winding. You cant run a 3 phase 220v motor on single phase. One other thing to...

Guide bushes for Elu MOF 177 (type 2)

So my question is, does anyone happen to have the trend bushing type adapter pictured above for the dewalt, or anyone have a dewalt DW625EK, and if so are the outer holes the correct size for my router? I use that adapter in my DW625. Outer holes are 75mm spacing. Inner holes are 50mm spacing so...

    Safety advice please.

25 years ago I removed a glove containing 2 fingers from the hoist drum of a crane in the steel plant where I worked. The owner had caught the glove on a splinter in the hoist rope and it had pulled it it. Without the glove he would have had a nasty cut but would still have all his fingers

    Safety advice please.

Personally I only wear gloves when handling rough sawn timber and never when actually machining. I would far rather a splinter than getting a glove caught in something. I also wear gloves when applying had rubbed finishes Ian

    Gloves

What gloves do people recommend when applying hand finishes. The ones I have been using seem to fail after a couple of minutes. Ideally would like some that are thin enough to retain a reasonable feel through them Thanks Ian

    Veneering a jewellery box

If using simple but joints for the corners, I would use a rebated joint such that the depth of teh lap was the same as the corner stringing. That way you will avoid any risk of the joint telegraphing through the veneer ian

    Veneering a jewellery box

MDF or a good quality birch ply will make a very good base for veneering. The general rules with veneering are that whatever you do to one side you should do to the other to balance. If you have a router table and a mitre lock cutter I would use that for your corner joints otherwise a plain...

    Router plunge springs replacement

Thanks spragnut, will check but think yours are bigger. There is nothing wrong with the action everything is smooth and free. I have had the router for nearly 30 years and serviced it several times so I know how it should feel. It needs new springs. MOF96 spriings are listed as part 34 and 32...

    Router plunge springs replacement

The plunge return springs on my Elu MOF 96E version 1 seem to have finally worn out. Any ideas where I can get a replacement. A number of sites list parts but not the springs. Router is virtually identical to Dewalt 615 and a Trend version Thanks Ian

    Veritas Platform Saddles

These could be made simply out of ply and blocks. You could make the gaps different to suit different width timber ian

    Which joint?

I would make the chest as a box with the corners chamfered off at 45 degrees and then biscuit joint the legs to the 45 degree chamfer. The exact configuration of teh corner will depend on the thicknesses of the front and side stiles. If these are quite thin then you may need to include a larger...
