Another bloody damp Problem Bay Window...

Not surprised your getting water into the building, looks like 9" solid brick not cavity, the cill and mullions have been neglected and the joints have opened allowing water into the structure, Get rid of the water retaining pocket, sheared underside of the cill, and clean out the drip, Rake out...

I have two Keter storage box's in my garden one for all the non essential stuff from my Greenhouse and the other for gardening equipment, both have faired excellently, neither have fell apart or leaked in the three years we have been using them.

    Homebuying advice - cracked walls

Vertical extensions can overload the existing foundations and cause cracking, horizontal extension to an old building should never I will say it again never be tied into the existing structure without extensive below ground work, not worth it easier to put in a slip surface (Furfix Profiles)...

    Homebuying advice - cracked walls

Almost all the Victorian brick structures I have seen where built using sand and cement mortar on massively over designed stepped brick foundations to increase the footprint of the building, its testement to the many that remain how well built they where, the only problems I have encountered...

Best handsaw to cut 30-40cm diameter wet log? Bow saw?

I had one of these for our wood burner and Rayburn in France: ZIPPER WP400TN Swivel Log Saw 405mm diameter blade, 130mm deep cut 3hp motor | Log Saws | Kendal Tools and Machinery but now days would not consider burning wood/Oak as its far too messy in the house.

Using premixed concrete for gate post.

Postcrete is not a very good concrete mix for a gate, better to get a bag of all in aggregate and a bag of cement and mix your own in a wheelbarrow, a waste of cement for just one post, but I am sure you can find a use for it somewhere else.

    Small grass clippers

Bit unfair to judge a product you never used, the size is perfect for what I use it for which is trimming grass around my tulips in the lawn and it was bought over twenty years ago, before the commercially available brushless motors and LiOn batteries, If I was going to purchase now, I would buy...

    Router woes

The main reason for not bottoming the cutter is, as you tighten the collet it grips and lowers the bit and the collet and bit get jammed together making it very difficult to remove the bit, this would not cause it to become loose, in fact the opposite. Try a different quality bit, could just be...

    Homebuying advice - cracked walls

Have a survey done by a "Structural Engineer" not a "Building Surveyor" if you are serious about this purchase, if it's only a tentative enquiry I would walk away, I am a retired Structural Engineer and would not entertain that building without an extensive survey including soil reports and...

Best handsaw to cut 30-40cm diameter wet log? Bow saw?

Don't know if they are available in the UK, but this looks like a viable option if a chain saw is out of the question...

    Electrical testing for lighting products

Would make an interesting discussion point on an electrical Forum, but for a Woodworking Forum I think we should stick to the conventional understanding : R=Residue, C=Current, B=Breaker with O=Over-Current protection.

Gosh. Things have changed since I last did "proper woodwork".

Wanting to compare UK goods with Eastern block goods, just look for a UK vehicle manufacturer, they have gone out of business for a reason, one of the most unreliable cars I have owned was a Range Rover.

    Small grass clippers

I have one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Bosch-Cordless-Edging-Shrub-Shear/dp/B00GZLFQB6/ref=asc_df_B00GZLFQB6/?tag=googshopuk- not that powerful, but does the job of trimming grass around flowers and steps.

    Router woes

I use a rubber O ring in the bottom of my Router collets to prevent bottoming, seems to have worked for the last twenty years.

    Electrical testing for lighting products

Difference between ELCB and RCCB ELCB is the old name and often refers to voltage operated devices that are no longer available and it is advised you replace them if you find one. RCCB or RCD is the new name that specifies current operated (hence the new name to distinguish from voltage...
