    We Will Remember Them

Recently bought a book on the British T class submarines, imagine my surprise when on the back cover is a picture of my father standing on the deck of the Thunderbolt holding the flag.

    A wooden bandsaw ... scary ...

Not quite the same, but I tie my own fishing fly's, the satisfaction of catching a salmonid on a fly you have tied is very exhilarating and I would imagine the satisfaction of making something with a machine you have made would give the same/similar satisfaction.

What's the most astounding work in wood you've seen?

The most recognised bridge on The Backs in Cambridge; The Queens' College Mathematical Bridge is famed as an example of a perfect bridge – at least in engineering terms. The poetically recognised 'Mathematical Bridge' does not have an official name and is also known as 'The Wooden Bridge' or...

    Political compass

Two up on the social scale, but right in the middle on the economic scale, I wonder what it means. 🤔

Why are Sip table saws expensive?

To me it's obvious, the one with the very strange numbers on the clutch ring is the fake.

    Axminster TS250-2 modifications.

Eventually the replacement for the TS250-2 arrived: https://www.axminstertools.com/axminster-workshop-aw254ts-table-saw-230v-111810 but no side slide mitre table and I note that the side slide table is not offered on any of the other table saws on the Axminster site.

Anyone got a suggestions for cutting 6-8mm thick perspex

The problem may be the lack of protective covering, perspex when bought new has a plastic protection film on both sides, sliding bare perspex across a table/band saw or running a skill saw up it will scratch the surface, may be an idea to put some kind of backing onto the face, cut edges can be...

90 degree joint for lean-to roof joist

It's a bit like using a powered screwdriver you become an expert of knowing when to stop just after you have finished. 🤔

90 degree joint for lean-to roof joist

OK inside a building with a ceiling, but very ugly on an external pagoda or lean too.

90 degree joint for lean-to roof joist

It all accords where you live and the loading you expect on the roof, high winds and snow then closer spacing, it's up to you, personally I would only want to do this once so would go with 450mm spacing.

90 degree joint for lean-to roof joist

Or let a corbel into the existing post to support the new Rafter.

90 degree joint for lean-to roof joist

Look up the manufacturers details should recommend fixing details, but I would say every third corrugation on the high point with rubber washer fixings, have a look at Unduline roofing sheets for the idea: https://www.eroofs.co.uk/uploads/manuals/Onduline%20Fixing%20Guide.pdf

    Another Ban on the way?

I doubt that doctors in the 1800 could tell the difference between TB and Lung Cancer. Yet the tide goes in and out regardless.

    Another Ban on the way?

In those days gone by it was called Consumption as Cancer and Asbestosis were not known or diagnosable.

    Another Ban on the way?

As you say, Induction hobs are a world apart from gas and ceramic hobs, and lets face it, the way the world is going electric is going to be the only power source available in the future.
