    Electric vehicles

Exactly this. Our longest regular trip is to Cardiff and back which is a 150 mile round trip, comfortably in the range of the latest generation of EV. The majority of our trips are in the local area so well less than 50 miles. An EV will work very well for us. Of course if I need to drive to...

    Electric vehicles

Yes but the nearest is about five miles away and the number of times I’ve got in the car to find my wife has left it on empty makes this a significant issue in our house. There has been a number of times I’ve had to drive five miles in the wrong direction then five miles back before heading on...

    Electric vehicles

I live in a rural location. Our next car is going to be EV. We will charge it at home and will probably never need to use a public charger. To be honest having to drive five miles to get petrol is a pain in the arse.

    Chat (GBT) GPT

Actually it would be garbage in = garbage out and the only way to make cabinets would be with full length sides and toe kick cutouts. AI is very US centric.

The 2023 Secret Santa - your last chance!

Im obviously a long way behind @Stigmorgan but I have prepared my timber. Cut some thin slices with the rip saw then a bit of judicious planing and I’m ready to start making. Just need a few days of sitting down to recover first. Thankfully what I’m planning is quite small.

The 2023 Secret Santa - your last chance!

That’s quite a fun bit 😀 I now have some idea but had to spend the day clearing out my workshop so I can get to the bench. All the gardening stuff was dumped in there. I’ve now got a full Landrover ready to go to the lockup tomorrow. Hoping to commence presenting tomorrow afternoon

    Desktop Co2 laser

I cut acrylic with a diode laser. I did have a problem at first as I didn’t remove the protective film. The laser wouldn’t cut it!!

    Email account has been hacked.

What you describe now is very different to the spam email you were receiving before. Did you get an email from eBay telling you you changed your password?

    Email account has been hacked.

To add to the excellent advice so far. Never click on a link in an email or text. Always use your normal way of getting to the website or call using the phone number you usually use for them. I even go so far as to reject requests to verify myself if someone rings me claiming to be my bank and...

    Email account has been hacked.

They tend to come in waves after your email gets sold to a new spam artist. You can keep reporting them as spam which will eventually get the sending email blocked or simply ignore them. If I get a very persistent one I create a rule to delete them automatically.

What are the definitive smells of the 70s?

Boiling tripe. A recurring nightmare. One of the best was lines oil and French polish in my granddads workshop.

    Speed Awareness Course

Your car is only at the very bottom end of autonomy. It is considered a L2 system that provides driver assistance. It is not designed to deal with the situation you describe, hence it telling your son to hold the steering wheel. L3 systems (hands off, eyes off), like those from Mercedes (2024...

Why do we have so many issues with software programs

I learn this the hard way back in the early 80’s. I worked for several weeks on a software package, a game actually. I did the final edits and went to the pub to celebrate. In the early 80’s most of the storage was floppy disk based. I had written all the data to a couple of floppy disks, yes I...
