Advice needed - How this entrance can be thermally insulated?

Sounds like a good idea. I had not thought about that. Thank you @D_W

Advice needed - How this entrance can be thermally insulated?

An extreme option could be to add another brick skin to outside wall and insulate in between. Yes, building something outside is a good idea. We did consider adding a a small extension/porch at some point, but wanted to delay that by a couple of years. Understood. thank you. Thank you everyone...

Advice needed - How this entrance can be thermally insulated?

Good advice. Thank you. One of the main reasons to install the new door was to get rid of the hideous original aluminium one. The other reason was to make entrance hall a bit longer. With the original door position - carpeted staircase to the first floor was bearing against the front door, i.e...

Advice needed - How this entrance can be thermally insulated?

Below is the outside view of the door. Do you mean the hole where arrow points? We do have 1 on each side of the door (left/right) but I am not sure how they may help moisture from inside to drain outside since that would imply there is a direct path for cold air to travel to the inside.

Advice needed - How this entrance can be thermally insulated?

Thank you. @D_W. Do you have a suggestion how to seal the gap between the insulation board and the door frame on the walls and on the floor area? Well, it is a bit too late now in my case. I am a woodworker, not a builder. Remedial work after door removal/install was discussed with the door...

Advice needed - How this entrance can be thermally insulated?

Hello everybody, Our house was built in 1970s with cavity walls and aluminium door. We have recently replaced old aluminium door with a PVC one (installation day naturally fell on the coldest day of this year so far). Part of the reason to replace the door was an assumption that it will improve...

    Mitre saw recommendations

do these things actually work? I was gifted one many years ago and (because it was a gift) tried to make it work couple of dozen times - changed blades, oiled, added custom made fence - every single time ended up setting this contraption aside and finishing majority of cuts with a cheap hand saw.

    AXMINSTER WORKSHOP AW318BT BENCHTOP THICKNESSER

Unless you find Jet JWP-12 cheap I would not consider it as it is likely being phased out since Jet now sell a marginally better JWP-12L. Here it is shown as JWP-12 but it is actually the newer "L" model: note the thickness gauge on the front and missing 3rd support column on each side.

    AXMINSTER WORKSHOP AW318BT BENCHTOP THICKNESSER

Try searching this forum for: AC318BT If axminster did the usual thing then AW318BT is likely just a rebadged version of the original Craft series: AC318BT

    Auto switch for vacuum

    1. If vacuum shuts off at the same time as the tool then less airborne dust gets collected and more airborne particles are left to breathe in. 2. When using the same hose with multiple tools - without shut off delay - I often found that saw dust gets spilt out of vacuum hose when I switch the...

    Auto switch for vacuum

Hello @stuart little As a user of Kemo unit - could you please confirm couple of things: 1. Is it possible to configure current detection threshold on Kemo unit? - i.e. to have it turn the Slave/Vacuum On only when power draw on Master/Tool exceeds certain level? 2. Does it support delay? -...

    Auto switch for vacuum

I might have tried almost all (cheap) options: 1. Cheap Aldi extractor with power take off - returned, because it did not start for some lower power tools (e.g. jig saw) 2. Intelliplug from Peter Millard video linked above - there is a delay about 5 or 6 seconds before it activates Slave power...

    Headband Magnifier/Glasses with LED

This is just one of the things that has to be tried to decide if that's the case or not. I own a headband type with the light (very similar to the one from Axminster LightCraft Professional LED Headband Magnifier) and found that: 1. I never use its light. Prefer something external 2. not happy...

The Rolls Royce of Jigsaws? Mafell P1cc

Congratulations on your new tool. Easy to imagine that anyone would be very happy with this kind of instrument. Genuinely curios (not trolling) - other than the fact that any Mafell tools are always a pleasure to use - why specifically Jigsaw? What do you plan to do with it which is both...

    Guide rail clamps

I have all 3 types and have used them a lot for guide rail clamping and for regular clamping (without guide rail). For guide rail clamping: - My favourite is "quick clamp" type. I reach for them first every time. - My second (close) favourite is Makita screw type - My least favourite (for...

    Dowelmax, Jessem and XL700

This is really useful experience. Thank you for sharing @Spectric If you do not mind me asking - why did you go with DF700 as opposed to DF500? Is it just because you mostly work with non sheet material and wanted stronger joints? DF700 looks limited in its application (being so big and bulky)

    Dowelmax, Jessem and XL700

Mafell do not do "sloppy". Their equipment cost as much mostly because it is very precise and robust at the same time. Indeed. This is a somewhat unique requirement (probably not the one this Mafell was designed for). I have drilled lots of dowel holes and have never thought to arrange them as...

    DC Motors

My guess would be - to be able to control motor speed with a knob (electronically) rather than moving the belt.
