Grinding wheel looks very coarse - looks fine for garden tools, not sure I'd trust it for top quality chef's knives or 'fine' woodworking tools though. S

On a different note - what wall finish do you ha e in your garage. We recently painted the grey breeze blocks with while masonry paint and wow, what a difference. Worth thinking about if you've not done so already as I would guess will make more of a difference than a perfect lamp. S

Back to the topic. Re the Lovell smocks, there is quite a difference between the material available. The green one feels a bit more synthetic and shavings slide off, the beige ones (as favoured by RPT), feel more natural / cotton / softer but need shavings to be brushed off. S

As above, 28 mm will bind I would think. That being said, perhaps drill a test hole with both - wouldn't be the first time a wood drill gave oversize hole. S

Difficult to see from photo, but looks like std tool that has received a 'home-grind', perhaps for a one off job, but not in wide use I'd suggest! S
