Router lift for £10??? - Read on!

Think they quoted 3 - 6 weeks and it was at the shorter end of that window. One of those click the button and put in the drawer until you next need it items!

Router lift for £10??? - Read on!

I’ve a basic bench top router table that I’m sure as sold by the thousand - mine is marketed by trend but I’ve seen all brands printed on them. One of the issues when using it with an equally budget router is that you need to be an octopus to set the height - one hand to hold the rule / depth...

Bandsaw blade ‘fore / aft’ pulse

Will do, I’ve not forgotten you’re all here! Had a quick ‘wiggle’ of the wheels, both with tension on and removed and could feel no horrors in the bearings. One issue that did the quick look did highlight was the top wheel tracking mechanism - the whole top wheel assemble essentially sits...

    Newbie question

I think I am right in that the 1221 have M33 x 3.5 spindle thread. If that is the case, it should serve you well since if you choose to buy a larger lather in the future then is is becoming a standard thread for the larger machines (new anyway!) Others have mentioned the versachuck which is...

It’s chisel time! Chisel me timbers! Your fav chisels!

My dad has a set and I must admit i am very underwhelmed! Thick in the sides so if you’re looking to do any dovetail / cabinet making then they are not the tool for you. AI tools get good write ups. I have LN socket chisels and love them but they do cost. What type of work do you want to do...

    What's under your lathe?

The motor to make the sticky out bit go round! Vicmarc 300 so on steel cabinet with motor / inverter in and not much else. Bit of wasted space really - you’ve got me thinking. Anyone else out there with a vic’y 300 go good ideas? S

    Chestnut bowl

I see the ogee. More of a personal / philosophical point. I struggle when the line of the bowl / foot is ‘into’ the table or surface. I prefer to see the line of curve flow extend to a tangent / asymptote to a surface rather than a hard end to the flow.

    Chestnut bowl

Looks really nice - lovely piece of timber. By way of constructive critism, it may be the photo but the foot could be made crisper for me. I’d be tempted to keep the flow of the bowl under the piece and make a sharper transition for the foot? However, that is minor, great piece and thanks for...

    Question about Morse Taper Collets

Mainly engineering use rather than woodturning unless you’re doing Uber precision stuff or only turning from well dimensioned round blanks. I use some MT collets in my lathe / mill as it is only hobby spec and allows me to get the cutter very close to the spindle in the mill attachment that a...

    WIP - “Engineers” Tool box

Wenge fronts to drawers will sit proud of these and cover them, half by each drawer so they will not be seen when all drawers are closed to give a ‘clean’ / dark look to the front. (Cabinet makers on here no doubt head in hands at some of this - my design so probably broken 100 good practice /...

    WIP - “Engineers” Tool box

I’ve long wanted somewhere to store all the small tools we all have that really deserve better than being dumped in a drawer to rattle around. I’ve looked on ebay at engineer’s tool boxes as something that would be ideal but even average ones command top dollar so I’ve decided to make one...

Bandsaw blade ‘fore / aft’ pulse

I’ve not adjusted the guides when this video was taken as I believe, as is said above, that the blade should run true and smooth without the guides when not in use. The guides are really just there to keep the blade on track when under load / cutting curves etc. The YT snoodgrass video shows...

Axminster Pillar Drill - Why Is This Happening

The male taper looks odd - I’d expect a ground finish all over, not just the top third, why is be bottom 2/3 black? As has been said, sharp blow from mallet should do it. You could also ‘pre-heat’ the chuck in the oven while SWMBO is out to get it to 200 deg c or so and then fit it so you get...

    First attempt at an egg

Well done- as said above, an egg is a hard item to get ‘right’ even though if you look at a dozen eggs in a box they’re all different! Apart from being good practice, it is a good ‘warm up’ item to save scrap wood for as gets you ‘in the zone’ very quickly when you get into the workshop...
