    16 Amp Plug & Socket.....How Tight?

This is interesting-a mechanic friend of mine used to smear some type of grease onto the battery terminals on the trucks he worked on I assumed it was to stop the nut seizing. I also came across this yesterday which sounds like it might work for the op

    Floorboard replacement in lounge

Agreed a few mm can be dealt with by using glazing packers or similar , anything greater can mean replacing the joist or at least sistering a new one to it although the op has not said by how much the floor is out.. as he has removed the existing flooring then levelling out the joists would not...

    Floorboard replacement in lounge

Hi - do you plan to fix the new boards and then varnish/ stain and or paint the new boards or simply underlay and carpet . I guess it comes down to the moisture content in the new boards but as you have removed the old boards then is it practical to wait 4 weeks to install the new ones . I...

    Wadkin ags 10 Lock Nut

Interesting thread ( no pun intended ) sad thing is there is some old boy somewhere who probably has a few of these nuts in his shed or garage just sitting there . Hopefully the op will be able to source one or come up with an alternative option.

    16 Amp Plug & Socket.....How Tight?

A lot of my power tools are 110 v . The plugs/ sockets are imo almost identical to 16 volt sockets/pluga plugs it’s not uncommon to have to give them a firm pull to engage/disengage . Can’t see why a little dab of silicone grease or petroleum jelly would do any harm ..happy to be corrected though..

    Wadkin ags 10 Lock Nut

Looks very like its bends very slightly to the right unless as you say optical illusion. But if you follow the outline of the vernier it does seam to bend ..

    Wadkin ags 10 Lock Nut

I wouldn’t like to say just from your photo but you could buy a thread checking set from almost anywhere. It’s likely to be imperial but the size and pitch is what you need . Do you have any nuts you could just try for a fit - fingers only - no tools .. Edit-some excellent and experienced...

Circular Saw for cutting Oak Sleepers - recommendations needed

That’s expensive for sleepers my local fencing /building supplier does them for £20 each and they are very good quality but yes inside they would eventually dry and twist - reclaimed might be a better choice but you have to cope with oil tar and creosote etc

    Do you sell your stuff?

I don’t very often sell tools as usually I regret it at some point but I’d consider donating to a charity or say to member who was ( god forbid) a victim of the thieving scum that take other people’s tools and destroy their livelihoods .

Any gas heating engineers on the forum? Advice needed.

My experience of ideal classics is they were good system boilers , cast iron heat exchanger etc but they were prone to condensation and rotted from the inside to out - parts are limited and expensive so new boiler is the best solution. As per @Spectric system flush. and filter is essential. And...
