Countertop cutout fail and how to correct it?

So first off the down cut blade is less likely to splinter the worktop edges especially laminated tops . As for the blades themselves all I can say is they are slightly longer than the normal blades , I’m no expert in tooth geometry but they are stronger and imo sharper than the regular blades...

Countertop cutout fail and how to correct it?

I have an old atlas copo that cuts worktops with ease with the blades I’ve referred to . Underpowered refers to the fact you are cutting oak which is problematic for most jigsaws . It’s not easy to get a perfect cut with a jig saw as the blade can wander off the cut line ( at the bottom of the...

Countertop cutout fail and how to correct it?

Could be your blade choice , your jig saw under powered, your feed rate to high , blade blunt , ……… the thing to check is will the ( I assume hob ) fit into your cut out and overlap the edges and that the retaining clips can engage the worktop edges .. as for further cuts I’d definitely do a...

A few teething problems and by the sound of it he would of come out sooner if he was available so fair play to him - these things happen so not the end of the world / was this work done gratis …it’s not uncommon for the hub to lose the stat but fairly simple to reset .look out for the battery...

    Dusty Boys floor protection?

I thinks someone is trying to cash in on the ppe market like in 2019 ( Covid ) it’s just a gimmicky way to take your cash . They look nice , sure to impress most customers but as above there are many other options out there . I’ve not read all the specs for those sheets but even if they are the...

    Creaking laminate?

Click flooring is not easy to install around obstructions as by it’s design and as you say it has to be raised to approx 45 degrees to allow it to lock in or click into place . Years ago they did a knock in flooring that would simply slot into place or under the edge of door frames . I’ve...

    Cladding carport/garage.

In that case it would ( imo ) depend on the thickness of your cladding but personally I’d like something else like ply or osb on the inside for extra strength and as said to make it a bit more secure . It doesn’t take much for low life’s armed with cordless tools to get in and be away with...

    Cladding carport/garage.

I’m struggling a tad with carport/ garage … reason is I see a carport as an open structure eg roof and sides/ side but open ended. Garage I see as a closed structure with a garage door , maybe access to the house from the garage etc . So my point is if it’s the former ( garage ) then forgetting...

Any gas heating engineers on the forum? Advice needed.

Hive designed by British Gas ( my x employer ) and while not everything they sold was good I still have my hive ( version 2 ) and tbh ive never had any major issues. I gave up on the hive trv,s but the bulbs for example are really good . They seem to last forever unlike regular bulbs . Get on...

Any gas heating engineers on the forum? Advice needed.

As an x gas engineer this is exactly the level of customer service you should receive . Yes it will be more efficient depending on what energy rating your previous boiler was and how you use it . Get into the habit of turning your heating off when you’re not at home and simply turn it back on...

That’s what it’s all about . Helping newer members who may have have little or or no experience. Before you go spending your money think about your safety as it can all go terribly wrong in a split second. Do a search for other threads on table saw safety , there’s at least 2 on the saw stop...

    Hello from Cambridgeshire

Hi and welcome to ukw - there are many budget brands available as mentioned Titan , parkside, draper Clarke etc but I always find it’s best to read as many reviews as possible before you part with your cash notes. A tablesaw is pretty useless without a decent fence and mitre slot ( standard...
