    refinishing an oak floor

I’d be tempted to try a varnish in a corner somewhere and see what you reaction if any you get . What does the floor manufacturer say about re finishing their product. The potential issue is some parts of your floor will have been subjected to high traffic, other parts ultraviolet rays and other...

    Greenhouse painting

Removing all the glass will leave you with a very unstable structure. When I built mine a few years back I was convinced it wouldn’t last out the winter as was very flimsy. However it was a completely different beast once the glass was installed and secured . It makes sense as you suggest to...

For Sale FTAGH - Mahogany wardrobe

It is such a shame that nowadays trends come and go so easily, I know years ago these items of furniture would be passed on and down to other family members that would appreciate it and also take care of it . But with time and care they can often be repurposed or broken down and re used . The...

    Staining 'oak' filler

Weird that wax will accept other finishes, in my limited experience filling holes in wood I’d of thought that it would be like painting silicone.. living and learning

    How Much!!

I’m not a 100% but I think if you introduce that many rare tools of a similar type then they by definition are no longer rare so @Cabinetman i reckon your right. Which again means their value drops as they are widely available.

    Staining 'oak' filler

I’ve had moderate success in the past using powder filler ( just add water type ) and water based wood stain . I just substitute the water for stain . Toupret do a wood colour powder filler that might work better than the white powder .. tomorrow Toupret Wood Repair Filler Natural Wood 1kg...

    How Much!!

Description says highly collectible but this only applies if at least 2 people fight to the death at an auction for them . Otherwise they are nice but just old tools . Imagine what you could buy with £2,000, 🤑🤑🤑

    Vitra bathroom fittings failing

The only issue I have with this is the fixing holes are at the base of the pan , if you aren’t spot on with your fixing holes including the slight angle they reqd it’s easy to crack the pan tightening it down . Even then it can keep the bottom of the pan under tension and eventually - crack ...

    Vitra bathroom fittings failing

Give me the old fashioned crappers any day , a 1/2” ball valve contains 1 washer , 1 orifice low or high pressure and the rest is all brass ,, syphon units that lasted forever but might need a new diaphragm every 5 or 10 years compared to nice fancy loos and cisterns that forever seem to demand...
