Post a photo of the last thing you made

Thanks, yes, its not quite finished yet, I need to find a permanent solution to raise the centre leg and apply another coat of oil and wax etc. I just grabbed some quick photos on the phone after I got the doors on, will try and get some posher ones when totally finished, also showing the top...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

Hi, here is a picture of a media unit and sideboard I just completed for my house. It's Rosewood & cocobolo veneer. I would like to be able to say I did the veneering, but it's a bit beyond me and my set up here, so Shawyers did it for me. I did all the lipping and finishing and everything else...

    Ched Evans

Don't think for a moment that I am saying **** is OK, as I am not, but in this very particular situation, which was nothing more than a mutually drink fuelled one night stand, and the other guy who she "entertained" got off, I think something is wrong. Many people here have no doubt been in a...

How to make money from woodworking?

I would agree with all previous sentiment.....Unless you are a well set up, experienced workshop, making kitchens or basic built in furniture, its extremely difficult. I use a guy who just specialises in what I described, its rinse wash repeat and he has it off pat. He does OK, I give him at...

    advice on hinges please

Hi, I have almost completed a piece of furniture ( a sideboard / media unit) for my lounge, which will have 3 doors on it, 2 inset ( 1 LH & 1 RH ) and one central door that will be a half overlay. I imagine I will be restricted to using euro style hinges ( unless someone can tell me different)...

    Guy Martin - Gravity Racer

Ummmm..why? "Loathe" ? that's a very strong emotion for someone as sound, down to earth, self deprecating, genuinely talented and decent as Guy Martin is, to arouse in you Roger? What makes you loathe him? Everyone's entitled to an opinion and all, but I can't see for the life of me why you...

Wadkin PK restoration finished (just about)

I had ideas of incorporating a flip stop and making it bit more "jackified", but lack the facilties to really do it justice. It, s somewhat frustrating and I am keen to start teaching myself some metalworking to fill this gap. Next on my shopping list is a small lathe and a milling machine! I...

Wadkin PK restoration finished (just about)

By the way, Adam ( Rileytoolworks) made the lovely handle on the side of the sliding table, so big thanks to him for helping realize my dream of getting this saw to look like this.

Two fences from rosewood and brass for the Wadkin PK. Not strictly necessary, but nothing wrong with some gratuitous pimpage......she's worth it......!! Cheers, Mark

Wadkin PK restoration finished (just about)

Hi, you may remember I posted a while back a link to the canadian woodworking vintage power tools forum where both myself and wallace hang out - it's Grand Wadkin central. I never managed to re post all the descriptions etc from my restoration over here, but you can read the full story there...

    Old back saw restoration advice

Very nice work there harbo....I finally managed to grab some hours this weekend to finish this saw off. In the end, I brought another of the same model on E bay, that had a nice shiny blade, and used that instead. Bit of a compromise, but like I said, the ugly pitting etc would just put me off...
