    Wobble?

Ahhh, I have one of those too but usually use the ring that came with the chuck unless I feel the need for more screws to hold the piece as the threaded one has double the number of scre holes. It's surprising how much vibration and shake a piece can cause, even if only a little out of...

    Wobble?

The mounting plate will do whatever the chuck does, glad you've solved the issue 😁 I rarely remove my chuck but when I do I've never had issue with it being stuck, when I do remove it though I will clean the flat surfaces off with a little wd40 to help prevent rust building up and fusing the...

    Wobble?

If you run the lathe with just the chuck on can you feel a "pulse" from the chuck? From your message to me- I discovered the wobble/alignment issue I had was mostly due to my stand not being level, once I levelled it up the issue improved, I still have to true a piece up once I turn it round...

Post a photo of the last thing you made

The wand is a gift for a colleagues 50th birthday, she's a huge Harry Potter fan so I went the extra mile and made the box, if I sell them I won't be doing boxes, the box took longer to make than the wand 🤪

Spent a couple of hours making a gift box for the wand I made yesterday, I included the meanings of each wood, taken from the world of Harry Potter.

N Nice, you could drill out the "bullet holes" and rough up the edges a little to look like real bullet holes as a little extra 😉

    Impressive or what!

Digging over brings weed roots to the surface allowing them to grow more, best to only disturb what you need to plant what you need.

What woodworking did you do today?

Bend it 90 degrees and drive it in 😉

That's gorgeous, nothing wrong with pine but probably not the best wood to learn with, soft woods can be hard to get a clean cut without tearout causing frustration. Hardwoods can be easier to learn with. Threw out yesterday's trophy failure and made a new one from a Mountain Ash log...

Couple of things today, gifts for a few people at work that are leaving, For a teacher - a Holly podlet that came out pretty nice, a bit gutted it hasn't stayed white but I only recently found out I needed to store the sticks and logs vertically (apparently it's the same for most woods) For...

    Cherry and beech finish

Mineral oil? I've used Johnsons baby oil as a finish on cord pulls and although it doesn't harden it also doesn't yellow the wood like a lot of other oils.

    LED advice needed

The flickering effect is a bonus but not essential. Was chatting with one of our new dads this morning, turns out he is an electrician and just set up his own firm, he said we can meet up for a coffee and he will look at what I want, even said he will do the pat tests for me for beer money if...

Temu carbide tip tools - any opinions?

A few youtubers have done videos showing temu purchases, seems to be hit and miss in regard to quality of the items, I guess ultimately it's down to whether you want to take the risk of spending money and receiving junk, personally I have never downloaded the app or gone onto their website, I...
