Re: the Machine Number 24BAO/S 67105 - the 24 appears to indicate its width and the BAO/S is the model number. The 67 is believed to be the year it was made, and the 105 is effectively the serial number. As a side note, Wadkin's Green Lane Works in Leicester mostly started any new model at...

Certainly more complicated than the history of mine. It was left over at the time they were phased out (replaced by battery powered tri-colour lamps) and this was among a few that had never been used. A friend who was a shunter at the time asked me if I wanted to save it from the rubbish skip...

Flinn ditched the two-piece cap-iron when they bought "Clifton" from Clico ~2014. They only make them with one-piece cap-irons now. I'm very sad (not really, I bought enough two-piece chip breakers off them to last until the day I die - and then some). Cheers, Vann.
