    Deadish Compressor

replacing the capacitors didn't work, i've attached video below so you can get an idea of the noise it makes, maybe that helps diagnose. Any ideas most welcome

    Need to escape/reset

Just wanted to mention Andy's Man Club, which (terrible name aside) is a great charity that meets on Monday evenings for men to share their feelings. It's an incredible tool if you can bring yourself to go.

    Deadish Compressor

£25 for the pair, I don't mind the cost if that's the cause. Anyway, I ordered them, thanks for the parts link whoever provided that further back

is there a way of testing the capacitors?

    Whisky tumblers -advice please

as a whisky lover, the idea generally appals me. However, if I were to make a wooden tumbler, I'd want a wood that is very closed grained and very very dense so that it has as close to a glass feeling as possible. African Blackwood is the first that comes to mind. Of course, that would be a...

    Deadish Compressor

The part genuinely couldn't have been cleaner. No rubbish, swarf anything 😖. Is the part I checked above the unloader valve? Should I be looking to replace a/the capacitor, I have little experience with such things, I'm guessing the big things in here are the capacitors? Presumably they will...

    Deadish Compressor

I'm not sure if this is the right place, but none of the other forums seemed appropriate, but ofc feel free to move it as appropriate. I turned on my compressor and it seemed to "limp to life" rather than straight away banging away like the noisy little *** it is. After 1-2 seconds of very...

Axminster AC370WL wood lathe. Speed lever issue.

sounds like I got quite lucky then, I was having to bang harder and hard to get the spring side one to move

Axminster AC370WL wood lathe. Speed lever issue.

I just solved a similar issue with the same lathe. Each gear in the mechanism is two conical discs that interlaces together, the belt then rides in the groove created by the discs interlacing. The further apart the discs, the smaller the gear, and the closer together, the bigger the gear. The...

Eggbeater drills without heavy metal paint?

Fair comment, my apologies to Spectric for being aggressive. I'd have probably got further by toning it down. I feel passionately about being inclusive, in a world where there are an alarmingly high number of people who seemingly couldn't give 2 hoots about others, so yes, I get annoyed. OP...

Slab doors out of Veneer Ply for a silly person

If I were doing this then I know I have a good sheet materials supplier locally with a cnc beam saw (http://pbplywood.com). They can provide any veneered (baltic birch) ply required, and the beam saw cuts perfectly as required. I'm not sure I'd undertake it using anything less than that as any...

Eggbeater drills without heavy metal paint?

lets set aside whether ignorance is any excuse. So now you do know, go edit the post and let's hope they didn't see it.

Eggbeater drills without heavy metal paint?

Tanz replied about being diagnosed OCD and alluding to other mental health issues, and you felt compelled to attack them for it? You should be ashamed of yourself, it's not the 1940s any more, maybe speak to your grandchildren about the correct way to interact with other humans in the 21st century.

    Sharpening

For me, there's enough to learn when starting out turning that I don't want to add sharpening to the list. I'm fortunate that I could throw money at the problem and get a Tormek and it's plethora of jigs (beware, they add a significant extra spend, although you can acquire them gradually ofc)...

Latest thing you have printed / machined / cut

how so? It's just ca. For the most part it's the tabs and slots holding it together, the glue mostly just keeps the mechanical components in place.

    Etsy con

What a thought provoking post. First thing to be sure of, when you're looking at Etsy in the current context, you need to be filtering by "Handmade" and in the UK to get an actual view on what makers are selling at what price. Most other items on Etsy are Chinese import, a real shame...
