    We had a load of pallet toppers like that which were so brittle it you tried to separate them then they just broke, I think heat treatment have a lot to answer for...

    Might seem crazy but how about getting a few mates of hers to help her along with a few builders bags for rubbish and a van to take wanted stuff to storage, and blitzing it in a w/e? The moral support of Freinds might just help her get through it, otherwise you risk being evicted / made...

    I'd put foam over the eves as the metal edges will change through the sail cloth in short order. You could glue it on with bitumen paint and add a layer on top too.

    Noggins. Or you could use deeper joists with a taper cut into them, say 6x2 with a 6" taper?? The strength of the beam is only needed between the sleeper walls like a bridge.

    How about pack up the sleeper walks with 4x4 timber and hanging joist hangers with 6x2 timbers in between?

    Sounds good 5 seal bricks with brick sealer - this will stop water entering the bricks and causing cracking when the water freezes . .

    How about a bolt in a plate. Perhaps a little oversized for the slot so you can file the threads away, so as to have a flat face against the pulley?

    I was out walking with my walking group and a couple of guys and myself came up with a much better idea for the national service in a matter of minutes! Learn a trade, Learn to drive. Learn soldier skills. Get out into nature for a week away somewhere. Do some volunteering NHS / nursing...

    Check that the doors haven't dropped out of square too. Then check the threshold hasn't warped? Then the hinges haven't come loose??

    Volvo 940. Great lump of a bus the ultimate woodworkers car! Audi A4 2.8 V6 so smooth and sophisticated! Pug 205 gtd great fun! Volvo T5 what a beast. Volvo XC90 what a mile eater. Mini cooper / cooper s kids cars - fun to drive in happier times.

    I'd suggest getting rid of stuff, rather than storing it, you only have to carry it with you later on. Getting rid might also be helpful in dealing with any understanding lying issues your Mrs may have which manifest themselves through the hoarding.
