    Vitra bathroom fittings failing

Dunnit! It was the little washer in the lever arm. Wouldn't have known it was there - more of a plug than a washer. Prised it out, turned it round, seems to work! I can **** again! Design too clever by half. Seems to be a valve working another valve, but gives near silent fill and precise float...

    Vitra bathroom fittings failing

Thanks for info. Looks like replacing (smashing) the cistern is only way to get at things for maintenance. Might as well just get a new bog altogether, but with access for maintenance etc. Slightly mystified that the over filling only lasts for about a minute and then shuts off - without the...

    Putin is a loser

Both are sets of ideas which can be described, and at great length, but not "defined" in a scientific sort of way. The people doing it, making it happen whatever it is, are the ones to hold to account, for better or worse. Yes it would do if you are looking for a "definition"! Google's AI has...

    US Election November 5th

Being a British guy might have helped him get in with no problems. Or did he dress the part, beard, burka, yashmak, kaftan etc? Carrying a copy of the Koran and a hookah in his haversack?

    US Election November 5th

Not a free market if not open to all, including immigrants. Another simple example of the daftness of free-market ideology. It's supposed to work out best for everybody. All very well if you can choose who to exclude! Maybe you just need to try a bit harder? Hope that helps.

    Vitra bathroom fittings failing

Thanks for that. Two blobs of putty or something in bottom of cistern. Broke one off and seems to be a stainless steel bolt head with what could have be a wing nut but broken off. Looks like a total bodge. I wonder if I can pull it all away from the wall without taking off the cistern and...

    US Election November 5th

Actually it wasn't promised. It was an opinion poll.

    US Election November 5th

Some promises are like that but more important are the general principles behind the proposals such as adding flesh to Corbyn's slogan "for the many not the few" If that was the sole intent they would not be worth voting for. I didn't vote Labour this time around for that very reason, and...

    Putin is a loser

It doesn't have a face at all! There isn't an "it" you can identify. Capitalism is a bit more specific but still has a range of meanings, from just being a useful way of getting stuff done to extreme crackpot free marketing ideology as the solution to all societal problems.

Are the employers paying the lower wages not responsible? Immigrants would prefer higher wages too. Maybe you should be in a union and insist on immigrants also joining it.

    Putin is a loser

It's more a case that the word has no precise meaning and all sorts of people use it for their own ends. There's no connection between Labour party style of socialism and the Nazis. It's a roundabout - current Labour party has supposedly purged itself of "socialists", but it hasn't purged them...

    US Election November 5th

It's poverty which most stifles growth and entrepreneurial talent. The wealth makers of the country are the people doing the work. They usually get short changed on the wealth they create.

    Putin is a loser

so what? Very few did. More died before they even got to USA. They could "buy" their freedom if the "owner" agreed, typically by working for an extended number of years, 5, 10, etc for nothing. Many were freed when they were no longer able to work. As free men life would stay difficult due to...

    Vitra bathroom fittings failing

replaced diaphragm weeks ago. Seemed to work perfectly but no longer - keeps over filling. Could be lime scale, deffo a hard water area. Think I need to replace the flush mechanism, or at least get at it to see if it's blocked or something Close-coupled cistern bolted directly to the toilet, how...

    US Election November 5th

It doesn't though does it! It does the opposite. Wealth accumulates, it does not self distribute. NHS, welfare, education,......etc, plus democracy itself. near 50% of GDP is state spending.

    US Election November 5th

Neo Labour not a very sharp bunch - basically continuity-tory but claiming better management skills. Funny that purging the left from the party did not increase popularity in the slightest. In fact the opposite. Whereas Corbyn got best turnout for Labour this century in 2017 and best since 2001...

    US Election November 5th

Resulted in a low turnout for Starmer, compared to 2017 and 2019 i.e. no particular strong feeling for Neo Labour They voted for Brexit!

    US Election November 5th

Well if you can't see it I doubt you would understand any answers! First of all, policy promises are not about paying the electorate, they are supposed to be about promising to run things effectively for the benefit of all of us.

    US Election November 5th

Because in an unregulated free market wealth and power inevitably accumulate in fewer and fewer hands and economies collapse. This is why we already have a large socialist element on our economy and the way it runs. There is no alternative.

    US Election November 5th

No a continuous program of redistribution - what goes around comes around. This is what we have already but just not efficiently run, not least due to objectors such as yourself!
