What wood drill bit type - 14mm, 24mm and dog holes?

Look at pictures of the UJK parf guide setup. That uses a specific forstner type bit to drill dog holes and it works well. I have armeg wood beaver and similar and don't think they cut quite such a clean edged hole. Self driving auger bits with a screw point do tend to cut a really nice clean...

    Another Ban on the way?

I'd maybe have a little sympathy for the environmental sustainability of wood burners (in any setting, but especially domestic) if the fuel had to be grown first instead of burnt first and trusting promises to be kept for 10 ? 20 ? 50 ? years afterwards to ensure it's replaced. If it doesn't get...

    Thanks for the welcome

Hi and welcome John. Dad had one that looked just like the first photos that google serves up for the leyris. No idea if it was that brand or not, but his was a fixed blade. Fingers crossed for someone else to comment ...

    CNC dust and smoke management

I'd agree hose coming down from an attachment on the ceiling with suspension allowing lots of wiggle. If large, maybe a track with 2 or 3 moveable hangers suspending the hose. More flexible hose will be better - some of the clear pu hoses used on woodwork machines seem more flexible than a lot...

Battery Chargers in the UK and Electrolysis

If you are planning on a lab type variable output power supply, dial it down to between 12 and 20V. Experiement a bit. Higher voltages are more aggressive, faster but reportedly can give a rougher end result. I've never felt the need to go higher than an 18 or 22v laptop power supply. Many folk...

    Harrison L5 3HP Lathe

Yes. Half the tooth count of the wheel you can see. There's a key in the middle idler shaft so both of it's wheels rotate together with no slip. It acts to speed up the teeth per rev by a factor of two. The big 127T wheel has the spacer behind it.

A single middle aka idler wheel has no effect on the gear ratio, same in, same out so to speak. If you stack two wheels in the middle, then the ratio of these two becomes part of the chain. Making metric threads with an imperial Norton gbox, the middle has a pair of wheels in a 2:1 ratio You...

    Drilling a table saw blade

Ask your local sharpening outfit. Mine has someone that does this for them when needed. The cost to me was a tenner a blade. They can't be making any money from it.

    Amazon liquidation pallet

Don't dream of a golden goose, imagine a palletfull of all the same useless tool that buyers have rejected because it doesn't work as they hoped. Now, how are you going to sell those on ? Your postage cost will be as high as some others are charging for them with free delivery !

    old air filter

Microclene designs were bought and are now sold as Thor in a grey colour scheme. The fleecy filter material will be available in bulk (think 1m wide roll) at a fraction of the price from spray paintshop supply businesses.

Is this a Router Option A, or is this a Router Option B ?

Sadly no, cat 5 or 6 would have to be drilled through 4 block walls, run under floors, around doorways and the entire kitchen ripped out to give access ! Alternatively chase two walls floor to ceiling, replaster, redecorate and pull cable through most of the length of the loft to go up and over...

Here's the metric set first time I installed them. The clearances will be off so not all the noise will be due to metal on metal.

I think yes. The topmost cog only just clears the back end of the spindle tube so that looks right. The size of the intermediate doesn't actually matter, just what physically fits since it's a single cog. 100 on the bottom. I found all metal gears noisy so put a 60T delrin in the middle of the...

Is this a Router Option A, or is this a Router Option B ?

https://community.virginmedia.com/t5/Networking-and-WiFi/UNDERSTANDING-KEY-ASPECTS-OF-WiFi/td-p/3870538 As an aside this is the best explanation I've read of how walls and floors affect wifi signal and how strong a signal you need for services like streaming, voip, videoconferencing, email, etc...

    Festool Vecturo

Bulky and not so versatile. Not for uses upto L or Right hand edges. What do they use them for ? Not cutting floorboads or skirtings. Not catflaps. Accurate plunge cutting to inset electrical boxes into the middle of surfaces ??

    Hidden fixings

i was about to suggest the same. Hafele or other bed brackets might work. Dowels or dominos would if it doesn't have to be knock down. I thought of a router lock mitre before realising it wasn't a simple 90 degree square corner so scratch that idea :)

You can get these for any Fein model for less than twenty quid. Attachment is solid and they totally transform the tool in a lot of applications. Highly recommended.

    Sagar table saw? 440mm blade?

Big old beast. A good vintage brand. It will probably be imperial not "440mm" and the spindle 1 1/4" not a modern 30mm standard.

    Festool Vecturo

The fein oscillators are the best of these, so by common design, the vecturo will be a better tool than a dewalt, makita, whatever oscillator.
