    Unabashed gloat.... (and an apology).

Tell me more!. Do you make custom planes?. Looking at Bridge City Toolworks Planes as they look lovely and something I would cherish.

    Iroko Table and Bench

I'm seeing the same. A low slightly curved large solid back with possibly a little more detail in the legs for the head chairs.

    My workspace area.

Thank you. Your right, it didn't work. I layered up 6 X 1.5mm veneers or what ever it comes in, never remember!. And had a lovely half tenoned joint and it just would not support me. I'm looking at recreating this piece but using a steel under frame with the veneers somehow attached over it. A...

    Brother's Birthday present

I'm shocked by the state of timber in this country, I recently completed a decking job and was just horrified by the twists and shakes in the EPI timber I used. I'm suprised that you say that working to the 'Thousandth' of a millimeter is not neccesary after doing the course, I remember...

    Brother's Birthday present

Everyone has different taste's, and I apreciate the comments. In doing research for the piece I was amazed that everyone was just selling the standard 'Park bench' as a product. We all sit at home on an evening in large comfy sofas and why not continue this into the garden furniture. On a...

    Brother's Birthday present

The Arm sections are Dominoed using there exterior dowels in Sipo, I had only just bought the Festool and wanted to check the strength and I must say it's one **** of a strong joint. I did have reservations though so screwed some 100mm screws in as well to be on the safe side. Tirebond III on...

    Iroko Table and Bench

That's what the client wanted. I did suggest two half size ones that they could move easily but for some reason they said No at build time. They have since come back and asked for two head chairs and two double bench's. Struggling a little with the design of the two head chairs as everything I...

    Iroko Table and Bench

The frame construction is 90mm X 90mm. And the top is 60mm.

    Brother's Birthday present

I am a bit paranoid that some big company will just bang out my designs in China and sell them through a big store over here and I'll never get my hands on this.

    Brother's Birthday present

Lumberjocks, that's the one. Couldn't find a UK based Woodwork Web site so joined that. Not sure the Americans and the Brits have the same ideas and views of Timber so here I am.

    Brother's Birthday present

Glad you like the wide arms. There 220mm wide so a plate, glass of wine or lady friend can easily be placed on it. I am saving for a load of Teak at the moment as I want to create a range in the same style, extending the wide arm's idea in to a low table with a slated top. I'm currently making...

    Brother's Birthday present

Wizer. It's definitely my design. I came up with so many and then a Google search later revealed that they had been done before. I would be very interested in knowing where you have seen it before. I put the pictures on my FaceBook account and another woodwork forum but that's it. Bit paranoid...

    Iroko Table and Bench

Always Au naturale, never found anything that can give me a good weather protection. Besides Iroko looks so much better once aged in the sun. The work shop is nothing special, Bench and some tasty Festool kit and a sofa for the dog. Anything huge can be done off site and I do all the detailed...

    Brother's Birthday present

He wanted a bench for the garden. The design idea is to have a deep seated section to invite lounging and lazy nights under the stars. unfortunately he lives in Fulham so those stars all seem to be heading for Heathrow Airport. 1 plane every 30 seconds, madness. Initial design drawing...

    My workspace area.

I have done the David Savage Fine cabinet makers course down in Devon and this was my work area. I'll post my new workshop when I get round to giving it a dig out. A chair design that still needs making, like most projects.

    Iroko Table and Bench

I had laid the decking for the clients and they asked if I could make them a table and bench. And I said Yes. It's 4.2m Long by 1.4m wide and took 4 guys to install it. The clients have said they've had 22 people for dinner. Enjoy.

    Magnolia as an outdoor bench?.

The tree was felled because of disease in the lower limbs. It was sad to see it come down but at the same time a win win for me. I do a lot of work with tree surgeons in London and am always on the hunt for large pieces, particularly Oak. We need another storm!. We had to take the tree down...

    Magnolia as an outdoor bench?.

Many thanks Richard. I had a feeling that may be the case. Will have a look at wood preservation but not holding up much hope on that one.

    Magnolia as an outdoor bench?.

The rest of the timber unfortunately was sent through the Chipper, I know, it's criminal but the guys just get on site and get the job done. I do a days work with them for any nice big trees that they fell and I get the large pieces. I have no idea about Magnolias durability as a...
