How have you found customer service? there seems to be marmite reviews online but it might be because people are trying to sell PLR content (whatever that is) which apparently isn’t allowed

Agreed embedding eBay links wouldn’t look as professional compared to the current offerings available. I set the link to direct to the Etsy store as the website wasn’t published yet, thought it was better to have it go somewhere than nothing. I’ll checkout shopify, thanks for the tip I’ve...

I feel like you need to factor in the Etsy ads as the overall cost of business on Etsy, in addition to their ~15% cut. It ends up being a huge amount of your sale that gets taken.

No worries, I suspect a lot of these sites were free back in the day, but they've wised up to it. Looks like you can add a html module into the ionos website builder but it requires, you've guessed it, a more expensive plan. There are html integrations into eBay etc but they don't look great...

Just checked out Wordpress and woo commerce. While it’s free to use woocommerce you need a business plan with Wordpress which is £35/month Im becoming more and more disillusioned with Etsy the more I’ve tried to use it. I think its fair enough putting adverts in other sites or in the search...

Wix e-commerce is £16/month and Ionos is £20/month. Which is what I expected r really given a pint is closer to a tenner nowadays. I also looked into a portable card reader to take to events etc to accompany a business bank account. Average £5/month fee some are free for 1 year I’ve seen you...

Thanks for your reply, some really good points here and I appreciate that you’ve had a look at the website etc and feedback on it. My main focus was on smaller shippable items I.e. wedding gifts, general gifts etc via web and larger piece on commission basis due to logistics of getting an...

@Stigmorgan agreed there might be some time wasters, but I might try listing some items on Facebook marketplace. Free advertising and if its seen by local people it'll be a lot easier for me to transport items if they are bigger rather than mess about with couriers. @deema Yeah my hours are...

Apologies, I had more replies than I expected from this thread and hadn't had chance to consider all of them, ill try my best to answer @Etaf Valid points, I've not got a huge number of items on Etsy, but they're around the going price. I expect I need to put up more listings with variety...

Slot mortiser / poor man’s Festool domino

Absolutely for a mk2 I’d go for higher quality components, but hopefully this setup will do what I need it for and the only cost was the ¼ inch bit.

Slot mortiser / poor man’s Festool domino

there was a bit of play in the topmost sliders (left-right action) causing the bit to have up-down play. I added some wooden blocks with machine screws over the sliders to act as a tensioner which minimised it. I also found that adding a handle as low as possible reduced play, as originally...

Found Biscuit jointer with dust extraction

I ended up getting the Makita after having found one for £110 local to me. The bloke used to be a carpenter and had no use for it anymore, and it was in very good condition. You can tell I have no brand allegiance in my workshop, it’s a rainbow of different coloured tools, that’s the...

Slot mortiser / poor man’s Festool domino

Thought I’d share my finished machine, to give others ideas and to receive feedback / improvements etc. I’m making a lot of bars for a crib and needed a good way to attach them strongly to the stringers but don’t want to spend hours and hours manually drilling dowels or cutting M&T: Video 1...

Found Biscuit jointer with dust extraction

Hi all! I’m after a biscuit jointer but it needs to have a dust extraction port due to where I’m going to be using it (building cabinets in nursery and don’t want mdf dust getting everywhere). I’ve got a budget of around £100 and looking for something fairly decent (not wickes own brand) so I...

Improving the Dust Extraction on a Table Saw

I did consider this, and tried to put an angled piece of hardboard inside, but it fouled the tilt mechanism sadly. I wanted to keep as much storage space under the saw as possible, so didn’t want the dust extraction coming down too far. If I’m getting loads of dust buildup I’ll rethink the...

Improving the Dust Extraction on a Table Saw

I have the same table saw, nice work on your mods. I’m building a new wheeled stand for my saw and it got me thinking - I’ve already made a plywood platform for it to sit on, I could just use a holesaw and attach a hose adapter directly to this instead of getting the bigmouth funnel. Though...

    Forstner Drill Bits

I’d recommend the Bosch professional forstner bits, they’ve got a wave edge and are wickedly sharp. You get wafer thin shavings in both hard and soft wood and clean edges.

    Biscuit jointer

Wasn’t sure whether to make a new thread, but it’s part of my experimentation with jointing techniques for the crib: Made myself a little slot mortiser for loose tenons, loosely based off the idea from Matthias wandals idea but simpler. Height of cut adjusted by machine screw in the slot...

    Upgrades for table saw

If you’re upgrading your fence I’d strongly consider building some kind of off feed / extension table around it and making sure the new fence is long enough to accommodate cuts on the extension. This is what I mean, example from eBay listing

    Learning woodwork from youtube

Longer videos means YouTube can cram more adverts in, so they’re favoured by the algorithm also.
