I am putting together a table of timber yards, with information from members who have actually visited the yards. Can you PLEASE HELP with information about Nicks Timber @ Gloucester?

Are they hobby friendly?

Can you self-select or is it by appointment?

Will they deliver?

Do they have online ordering?

Are prices displayed at the yard?

Do they sell domestic hardwoods?

Do they sell other hardwoods?

Do they sell softwoods?

Do they sell manufactured boards?

Do they sell turning blanks?

Are they a one-man-band or a small, medium or large yard?

Will they cut to length to fit in your vehicle?

Do you have any comments?

A: Sort of. Never had a problem with them fulfilling an order, but they have offered substitutes on my timber choices. For example, I wanted some Idigbo for a project. As they don't have it as standard and the amount I wanted was small, they offered Iroko instead. Hardwoods aren't available off the shelf, so it's not always possible to pick your own boards.

Self selection for softwoods. Hardwood is by appointment.

Will they deliver?
Yes

Do they have online ordering?
Sort of - if you email, you can normally sort out an order that way.

Are prices displayed at the yard?
No (and this is incredibly annoying).

Do they sell domestic hardwoods?
Yes but it isn't available 'off the shelf'. It has to be ordered.

Do they sell other hardwoods?
Yes but as above, only if the quantity is right.

Do they sell softwoods?
Yes - and it is excellent quality.

Do they sell manufactured boards?
Yes

Do they sell turning blanks?
Not sure - not part of my arsenal, so I've never had a need to ask

Are they a one-man-band or a small, medium or large yard?
I'd say medium/large.

Will they cut to length to fit in your vehicle?
Yes
