I am putting together a table of timber yards, with information from members who have actually visited the yards. Can you please help with information about Scawton Sawmill?

Are they hobby friendly?

Can you self-select or is it by appointment?

Will they deliver?

Do they have online ordering?

Are prices displayed at the yard?

Do they sell domestic hardwoods?

Do they sell other hardwoods?

Do they sell softwoods?

Do they sell manufactured boards?

Do they sell turning blanks?

Are they a one-man-band or a small, medium or large yard?

Will they cut to length to fit in your vehicle?

Do you have any comments?

Are they hobby friendly?
Mostly. They sell to trade but seem happy enough with a one man hobbiest. I've been told to ring/email ahead though as they can be busy and prefer you to have your order sorted before arrival.

Can you self-select or is it by appointment?
Kind of. They can show you around on arrival.

Will they deliver?
Yes

Do they have online ordering?
Of sorts. Not used it. Prices for offers are listed online.

Are prices displayed at the yard?
Not to my knowledge.

Do they sell domestic hardwoods?
Yes.

Do they sell other hardwoods?
Some, but nowhere near the quantity of domestics.

Do they sell softwoods?
They have Doug Fir

Do they sell manufactured boards?
S4S? Yes

Do they sell turning blanks?
No

Are they a one-man-band or a small, medium or large yard?
There are a couple of guys that I've seen.

Will they cut to length to fit in your vehicle?
Yes

Do you have any comments?
Seem to specialise in Oak and Ash. Comes from Northern France. Kitchen business is connected. They have deals on smaller quantities such as 45 for 5 boards of oak 27mm rough sawn. They also stock oak leg blanks etc. No specific turning stuff to my knowledge. Keen prices on sawn oak and ash.
