I am putting together a table of timber yards, with information from members who have actually visited the yards. Can you please help with information about SV Timber?

Can you self-select or is it by appointment?

Will they deliver?

Do they have online ordering?

Are prices displayed at the yard?

Do they sell domestic hardwoods?

Do they sell other hardwoods?

Do they sell softwoods?

Do they sell manufactured boards?

Do they sell turning blanks?

Are they a one-man-band or a small, medium or large yard?

Will they cut to length to fit in your vehicle?

Yes, though they expect you to buy a whole length of timber (e.g. 4.2m of redwood).

Can you self-select or is it by appointment?
Supervised - you can help them select, e.g. a more clear length.

Will they deliver?
Yes, free delivery to major towns/cities in Midlands/East Midlands.

Do they have online ordering?
Yes

Are prices displayed at the yard?
Prices available online,

Do they sell domestic hardwoods?
No

Do they sell other hardwoods?
No (except cladding, see below)

Do they sell softwoods?
Yes, PSE Redwood, carcassing, cladding/matchboard (incl Oak and Iroko). Glulam beams.

Do they sell manufactured boards?
Limited: 18mm OSB or 18mm Medite Tricoya Extreme boards.

Do they sell turning blanks?
No

Are they a one-man-band or a small, medium or large yard?
Small yard

Will they cut to length to fit in your vehicle?
Yes, cutting service while-you-wait, can do patterns/machining but will take longer.

Do you have any comments?
I know they aren't a big hardwood yard, but useful if you need PSE Redwood in Leicester.

It's not actually called Soar Valley Timber anymore it was amalgamated into the Verdon Timber group a while back......

The name of this company is SV Timber Limited and from their web site it shows that the information given by kdampney is correct, as they only have branches in Ilkeston and South Wigston.

You obviously knew them in a previous life and as you say, it's not Soar valley Timber anymore.
